Job summary

YMCA of Northwest North Carolina is seeking a Seasonal Youth Development Assistant in Winston-Salem, NC. You will support before- and after-school programs and help maintain a safe, engaging environment for children.

Hours are before school 7:00am–9:00am or afterschool 2:00–6:00pm, Monday–Friday, with some nights and weekends. A high school diploma or GED is required, plus a current CDL and the ability to pass a CDL road test; background checks apply.

Location: Youth Development - Winston Salem, NC 27105

Position Type: Seasonal

Salary Range: $15.00 - $17.00 hourly

Shift: Variable

Hours: Before School 7:00am–9:00am or Afterschool 2:00–6:00pm, Monday–Friday. Nights and weekends may be required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED, or 1–3 months related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Current CDL (required)
• Pass a CDL road test (required)
• Pass a NC criminal record check/background check
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Enjoys people and ensures safety first
• Certification in CPR/First Aid/AED/Oxygen administration or obtain certification within 60 days of hire
• Flexible scheduling
• Other YMCA‑required training and certifications as applicable

Physical Demands and Work Environment

• Work in excess of a 20‑hour week: Before School 7:00am–9:00am or Afterschool 2:00–6:00pm Monday–Friday
• Walk, stand, and sit (including on the floor) for long periods of time
• Exposure to communicable diseases and bodily fluids
• Lifts and carries food and supplies weighing up to 20 pounds
• Stand or sit while maintaining alertness for several hours
• Position may require bending, leaning, kneeling, and walking
• Speak concisely and effectively communicate
• Visual and auditory ability to respond to critical situations and act swiftly in an emergency
• Apply proactive team management techniques and conflict resolution with team as needed
• Available for Out‑of‑School Days (days when school is closed and we have full day care at the Branch)
