Job summary

Alturas Academy in Rigby, Idaho, is seeking a part-time School Bus Driver to transport students safely to and from school, field trips, and activities. The role requires a valid CDL with endorsements, a clean driving record, and the ability to pass background checks and drug screenings.

You will follow routes, maintain safety, and serve as a positive ambassador for the school. The position offers morning and afternoon shifts with a total of 4.5 hours per day.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Safely transport students to and from school, field trips, athletic events, and other school-sponsored activities.
  • Follow designated routes, schedules, and transportation procedures.
  • Maintain a safe, orderly, and welcoming environment for all students during transportation.
  • Monitor student behavior and address concerns in accordance with school policies.
  • Assist students as needed to ensure safe loading and unloading procedures.
  • Conduct emergency evacuation drills and follow emergency procedures when necessary.
  • Conduct required pre-trip and post-trip inspections of assigned vehicles.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the bus interior and exterior.
  • Report mechanical concerns, maintenance needs, accidents, or safety issues promptly.
  • Complete required vehicle inspection reports and transportation documentation.
  • Ensure all safety equipment is present and operational.
  • Adhere to all federal, state, local, and school transportation regulations.
  • Maintain required licenses, endorsements, certifications, and training requirements.
  • Complete transportation records, mileage logs, incident reports, and other required documentation accurately and on time.
  • Participate in required safety meetings, trainings, and professional development opportunities.
  • Communicate professionally with students, families, staff, and administrators.
  • Serve as a positive representative of Alturas Academy while interacting with the community.
  • Collaborate with school staff and transportation personnel to support student needs and transportation operations.
  • Promptly communicate route concerns, delays, incidents, or safety issues to the Transportation Director.

School Bus Driver (Part-Time)

Reports To: Transportation Coordinator
Location: Alturas Academy North, Rigby, ID
Schedule: Monday-Thursday 6:20 AM - 8:20 AM, 2:45 PM - 5:15 PM
Pay Rate: $30.00 per hour, monthly $300 attendance bonus offered

Position Summary

The School Bus Driver is responsible for the safe and timely transportation of students to and from school, field trips, extracurricular activities, and other school-sponsored events. This position requires a commitment to student safety, professionalism, reliability, and positive interactions with students, families, and staff. Drivers are expected to maintain compliance with all transportation regulations while contributing to a culture of safety, support, and accountability.

Duties and Responsibilities
Student Transportation & Safety
  • Safely transport students to and from school, field trips, athletic events, and other school-sponsored activities
  • Follow designated routes, schedules, and transportation procedures

Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications
  • Acceptable driving record
  • Commercial Driver’s License with Class B or Class A
  • Passenger (P) Endorsement (or ability to obtain)
  • School Bus (S) Endorsement (or ability to obtain)
  • Previous school transportation or commercial driving experience
