Job summary

ART Transit / RATP Dev USA is hiring Bus Operators to drive fixed routes throughout Asheville, delivering safe, reliable service to the community.

Starting pay is $25.25 per hour with a generous sign-on bonus and CDL-related incentives. No CDL? paid CDL training is provided. Benefits include medical, dental, vision, 401(k), PTO and holidays. Training supports growth within ART Transit.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Strong communication and customer service skills.
• Ability to pass a DOT physical and drug screening; background check.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate buses on scheduled routes throughout the Asheville area
• Provide friendly, professional customer service
• Assist passengers, including individuals with disabilities
• Follow all traffic laws, safety procedures, and company policies
• Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections (DVIR compliance)
• Communicate with dispatch regarding routes, detours, or incidents
• Operate bus equipment safely (farebox, lift, radio, emergency equipment)
• Collect fares and maintain accurate passenger counts
• Respond to incidents or emergencies following established procedures
• Report accidents or unusual events and complete required documentation

Pay & Benefits

• Starting Pay: $25.25 per hour

Your Role

As a Bus Operator with ART (Asheville Rides Transit), you will safely transport passengers along fixed routes throughout Asheville while providing reliable, customer-focused service.

Minimum Requirements

• Must be 21 years or older
• Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Ability to pass a DOT physical and drug screening
• Ability to pass a comprehensive background check
• Strong communication and customer service skills
• Willingness to obtain a CDL with Passenger Endorsement (training provided)
