Job summary

WeGo Public Transit in Nashville is seeking a skilled Auto/Bus Mechanic to perform maintenance and repairs on gasoline, diesel, electric, and hybrid buses and related equipment. You will diagnose, service, and repair engines, transmissions, brakes, and electrical systems using diagnostic tools and schematics.

Applicants should have a High School Diploma or GED, a TN Class B license with P endorsement, and at least 2 years of automotive experience.

Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED required.
Minimum of two (2) years' experience as an automotive mechanic.
Valid TN Class “B” Driver’s License with a “P” Endorsement and a permit for Class A combination vehicle.
Refrigeration License (608) for all refrigerants used on the fleet.
DOT drug and alcohol testing may be required.
Ability to pass DOT medical physical.
Willingness to work varying shifts.

Responsibilities

Inspect, diagnose, and repair mechanical defects in gas, electric, hybrid, and diesel buses and related equipment.
Remove and repair engines, transmissions, hydraulics, cooling, suspension and electrical systems.
Install and repair electrical and mechanical units using diagrams and schematics.
Replace and adjust brakes, pumps, starters, injectors, lights, steering gears, generators, and AC systems.
Operate overhead cranes, hydraulic lifts, hoists, jacks, and related equipment.
Perform field and emergency road repairs as needed.
Maintain records of repairs and parts used in automated maintenance system.
Acquire skills to diagnose and repair electronic and mechanical systems independently.
