Job summary

Pendleton County Schools is hiring a Substitute Transportation/Classroom Aide to support student transportation and classroom supervision. The role combines bus assistance with active student support and requires CPI certification or willingness to obtain, plus ongoing training.

Applicants must have a high school diploma or GED, be able to lift 50 lbs, pass a criminal background check, and complete transportation training.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
• Pass criminal background check.
• Adult and child CPR/AED/First Aid certified or be willing to become certified.
• Must complete transportation training requirements.
• Currently hold or previously held classification of Aide, or passage of state competency exam for Aide.

Responsibilities

• Provide students with individualized attention
• Participate and become certified in Crisis Prevention Intervention Training (CPI)
• Set up and operate equipment
• Assist student to and from the bus
• Remain aware and alert of medication administered to student
• Delegated, trained, and required to administer medication to a student as needed
• Assist in lifting student
• Secure students in car seats, seat belts, harnesses, etc., while in transport
• Secure wheelchairs safely for transport
• Practice good safety habits and have knowledge of basic first aid
• Help maintain an up-to-date inventory
• Possess strong oral and written communication skills
• Maintain familiarity with personnel policies and procedures
• Maintain confidentiality
• Communicate positively with students and school staff
• Demonstrate patience while working with children.
