Job summary

Harbor Steel & Supply Corporation in West Virginia is seeking an entry level Burner/Laser Operator (Level I) for the 2nd shift. You will cut material to customer specifications using flame/laser equipment under supervision.

Responsibilities include setting up steel on the table, monitoring burns, removing scrap, following work orders, and supporting safety and 5S practices on the shop floor. No prior experience required beyond a high school diploma and basic measurement skills.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Ability to read and follow written instructions and drawings.
• Basic measurement skills with tape measure, calipers, and micrometer.
• Certified to operate a lift truck and crane.

Responsibilities

• Position correct type and size of steel on the burning/laser table.
• Monitor the burning or cutting process to meet specs.
• Remove steel and scrap from the burning unit.
• Follow the work-order process to meet customer quality expectations.
• Maintain a safe work area following 5S and safety standards.

POSITION TITLE: BURNER/LASER OPERATOR – ENTRY LEVEL (LEVEL I)

2nd Shift

A Burner/Laser Operator – Entry Level (Level I) is responsible for flame/laser cutting material to customer specifications.

POSITION REPORTS TO: Site specific (Plant Superintendent, Shift Supervisor, Production Manager, and/or Warehouse Manager)

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Position correct type and size of steel on the burning/laser table
• Monitor the burning of the material
• Remove steel and scrap from burning unit
• Perform IPIR
• Understand and follow the work-order process for meeting customer quality expectations
• Use the process scheduler
• Perform preventive maintenance checks on equipment as scheduled
• Work area responsibilities – follow 5S and safety standards

QUALIFICATIONS

• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Ability to follow written instructions and drawings
• Ability to use tape measure, calipers, and micrometer
• Certified to operate a lift truck and crane
• Ability to use a hand grinder
• High school diploma, training, and/or equivalent experience
