Job summary

Uniti is seeking a Buried Drop Technician to install buried copper, fiber, and coaxial drops from the network hub to customers’ homes. Overnight travel may be required based on business needs.

The role emphasizes safety, technical skills, and customer-focused service as you connect customers to Uniti products and services. You will also train new staff and perform site paperwork as part of daily duties.

Qualifications

  • Walk ½ mile+ while operating drop plow.
  • Overnight travel dissolved into schedule per business needs.
  • Basic technology and math skills required.
  • Color vision required for color-coded cabling.
  • Must lift and carry up to 70 pounds.
  • Must pass pre-employment DOT physical and training.
  • Valid driver’s license with safe driving record.

Job description

As a technician working on the buried drop team, you will perform the physical installation of buried copper, fiber, and coaxial cable from the network hub to the customers’ residence. Ability to travel overnight, including out of state based on business needs.

This is a safety sensitive position.

What You’ll Do:
  • Perform the physical installation of buried copper, fiber & coaxial drop cable to connect Kinetics' network to the customers’ residence.
  • Use your technical expertise and customer focus to create meaningful connections with customers.
  • Interpret work drawings and instructions and complete necessary paperwork.
  • Sell and promote Kinetic products and services.
  • Train new employees on daily job functions.
  • Operate hand-held computer for retrieving and clearing job tasks.
  • Perform locates on underground facilities, as applicable, during job tasks, such as locating gas, power, and communication lines.
  • Operate machinery including trenching and boring equipment for burying cable.
  • All other tasks as assigned.
Do You Have:
  • The ability to walk ½ mile + while operating a drop plow that places service cable.
  • Ability to work the schedule including overtime, callouts, and standby as needed.
  • Basic technology and math skills.
  • Ability to distinguish colors present in color-coded cable.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 70 pounds.
  • Ability to successfully complete required training, including overnight travel out-of-state.
  • A valid driver’s license and safe driving record.
  • Ability to pass pre-employment DOT physical.
