Job summary

Uniti Group Inc. is seeking a Buried Drop Technician on the Kinetic team. You will perform physical installations of buried copper, fiber, and coaxial drops from the network hub to customers’ homes, with overnight travel as needed.

The role involves promoting products, completing paperwork, and potentially training new staff. Safety sensitive position following a union bidding process. You will operate equipment, read drawings, and ensure accurate task management, while meeting job requirements

Qualifications

• Experience with burial/drop installation is a plus.
• Strong customer service orientation.
• Ability to interpret work drawings and follow instructions.
• Must have a valid driver’s license and safe driving record.
• Willingness to travel overnight as needed.

Responsibilities

• Perform buried copper, fiber, and coaxial drop installations from hub to residence.
• Promote Kinetic products and services to customers.
• Complete required paperwork and interpret drawings.
• Train new employees on daily tasks.
• Operate hand-held devices to manage tasks and locate underground utilities as applicable.
• Assist with trenching/boring tasks for burying cable.

About The Role
As a technician working on the buried drop team, you will perform the physical installation of buried copper, fiber, and coaxial cable from the network hub to the customers’ residence. Ability to travel overnight, including out of state based on business needs.
Our team of Buried Drop Technicians care about technology and connecting customers to products they value.
This is a safety sensitive position.
This Position Follows a Union Bidding Process
What You’ll Do

• Perform the physical installation of buried copper, fiber & coaxial drop cable to connect Kinetics' network to the customers’ residence.
• Use your technical expertise and customer focus to create meaningful connections with customers.
• Interpret work drawings and instructions and complete necessary paperwork.
• Sell and promote Kinetic products and services.
• Train new employees on daily job functions.
• Operate hand-held computer for retrieving and clearing job tasks.
• Perform locates on underground facilities, as applicable, during job tasks, such as locating gas, power, and communication lines.
• Operate machinery including trenching and boring equipment for burying cable.
• All other tasks as assigned.

Do You Have

• The ability to walk ½ mile + while operating a drop plow that places service cable.
• Ability to work the schedule including overtime, callouts, and standby as needed.
• Basic technology and math skills.
• Ability to distinguish colors present in color-coded cable.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 70 pounds.
• Ability to successfully complete required training, including overnight travel out-of-state.
• A valid driver’s license and safe driving record.
• Ability to pass pre-employment DOT physical.
