Job summary

WestAir Gases & Equipment, Inc. is seeking a safety-focused Bulk Liquid Gas Driver to transport, deliver, and transfer bulk gases to customer locations in California and the Southwest.

Candidates should have a Class A CDL with HazMat (and Tank where applicable), plus 2+ years of commercial driving experience, and a reliable customer-service mindset. The role requires safe operation of tractors and hoses, adherence to DOT regulations, and occasional long-haul travel within the region.

Qualifications

• Valid Class A CDL with HazMat endorsement.
• Tank vehicle endorsement when applicable to assigned equipment.
• Strong safety awareness and mechanical aptitude.
• Clean driving record that meets company and insurance requirements.
• Ability to read and understand safety procedures, delivery instructions, and equipment gauges.
• Ability to work independently and manage assigned routes efficiently.

Responsibilities

• Drive a commercial motor vehicle (tractor-trailer) to transport and off-load gases to customers or storage sites.
• Load micro bulk tanks and fill customer-owned micro bulk tanks as assigned.
• Report accidents, safety issues, or driving citations to a supervisor.
• Comply with all safety policies, operating procedures, and DOT regulations.
• Maintain vehicle cleanliness and professional appearance; keep accurate delivery records.

WestAir Gases & Equipment, Inc. is seeking a safety-focused, dependable Bulk Liquid Gas Driver to join our distribution team. This position is responsible for safely transporting, delivering, and transferring bulk gases to customer locations while complying with company safety procedures and applicable Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations.

The ideal candidate has experience operating commercial vehicles, handling compressed gases, and providing excellent customer service. This position requires strong attention to detail, mechanical aptitude, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.

Essential Functions

• Promote and comply with Safety Policies and Operating Procedures
• Drive a commercial motor vehicle (tractor-trailer) combination, usually long distances, to transport and off-load compressed and liquefied industrial gases to customers or to storage sites in a safe, timely, accurate, and courteous manner
• Load micro bulk tanks and fill customer-owned micro bulk tanks as assigned
• Report all accidents, possible injuries, safety issues, driving citations, and customer complaints including service interruptions, immediately to their supervisor
• Comply with all facility and corporate policies and procedures
• Maintain awareness of all Federal, State, and Local regulations and stay in compliance with these regulations at all times. Report suspected Regulatory violations or offenses to his/her appropriate manager
• Perform pre & post-trip inspections to identify any maintenance action that may be required and act appropriately if action is needed
• Operate all equipment per company and/or manufacturer guidelines to maximize equipment life cycle and minimize maintenance costs
• Complete and submit reports as required by the DOT and/or company policy
• Maintain a clean and professional personal and vehicle appearance

Requirements

• Valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL).
• Current Hazardous Materials (H) endorsement required.
• Tank Vehicle (N) endorsement required when applicable to assigned equipment; combination HazMat/Tank (X) endorsement preferred.
• Minimum of two years of commercial driving experience preferred.
• Experience transporting compressed gases, hazardous materials, or operating high-pressure gas equipment strongly preferred.
• Clean driving record that meets company and insurance requirements.
• Knowledge of DOT regulations, vehicle inspections, and safe commercial driving practices.
• Ability to read and understand safety procedures, delivery instructions, and equipment gauges.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage assigned routes efficiently.
• Strong communication and customer service skills.

The employee is occasionally required to sit, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and stand on his or her feet for long periods of time. The employee must frequently lift and move up to 50-100 pounds. Reasonable manual dexterity for pushing, turning, and pulling controls and valves. Work in various indoor and outdoor environments and may be exposed to weather changes, noise, vibrations, and job hazards. Have the ability to operate a motor vehicle, machines, and other hand tools and equipment. This job requires close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Travel

Daily long-haul within company regions: San Diego, Los Angeles, Central Valley, Yuma, or other territories as needed

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time, non-exempt, and on-site position. Days and hours vary by shift. Some overtime may be required, but not guaranteed. May be required to work occasional overnight or weekends, as needed.
