Overview

Building Utility Engineer I (Plumbing/HVAC) at Cook Children's Health Care System. The Building Utility Engineer I will operate, maintain, calibrate, troubleshoot and repair equipment controls on equipment, utility and distribution systems, including but not limited to domestic water, steam, chilled/hot water systems, HVAC, electrical distribution systems, emergency power systems, vertical lift systems, medical gas and vacuum systems, pneumatic tube systems and building automation.

Responsibilities


  • Operate, maintain, calibrate, troubleshoot and repair equipment controls on equipment, utility and distribution systems.

  • Maintain systems including domestic water, steam, chilled/hot water systems, HVAC, electrical distribution systems, emergency power systems, vertical lift systems, medical gas and vacuum systems, pneumatic tube systems and building automation.


Education & Experience


  • High School Diploma or GED w/ 8+ years.

  • Technical or College considered in place of Years of Experience.

  • Work toward obtaining expert status on at least two systems and obtain State License in related field preferred.

  • Skilled in Healthcare/Commercial Maintenance, Building Automation, Plumbing, Electrical, Emergency Power systems and Computer knowledge.

  • Troubleshoot problems and make needed repairs as needed of system and equipment.

  • Pneumatic tube system, Medical Gas, Building Automation and AutoCAD experience preferred.

  • Develop positive working relationships with colleagues and customers through good service skills and effective communication.


Certification / Licensure


  • Universal EPA certification preferred.

  • City/State license in related field preferred. Healthcare experience preferred.
