Job summary

PCL Construction Services, Inc. in Los Angeles, California seeks a seasoned Construction Systems Manager to oversee building systems reviews, submittals, and commissioning. You will coordinate mechanical and electrical disciplines, manage change notices, and ensure schedule alignment with project goals.

You will lead a team, liaise with stakeholders, and drive continuous improvements in building systems performance. A strong background in construction and code compliance is required.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; tradesperson or postsecondary diploma/degree in a related discipline preferred.
  • 7 to 10 years of progressive experience in mechanical/electrical construction, including 2 years of supervisory experience.
  • Immediate knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems, principles, and practices.
  • Ability to facilitate coordination of mechanical, electrical, architectural, civil, and structural drawings and specs.
  • Knowledge of construction law and building codes; ability to apply them as required.
  • Strong verbal and written communication with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Strong planning, organizational, and time management skills with multitasking and delegation.
  • Ability to adapt quickly to new software and processes.

Responsibilities

  • Ensures reviews of building system trades’ progress for compliance with drawings, specs, quality, schedule, and constructability.
  • Processes critical building systems submittals, coordination documents, and reports.
  • Manages coordination of the drawing process and provides direction on model coordination as required.
  • Provides input on schedule development and implementation for building systems execution and architecturally related sequencing.
  • Reviews prime contracts and building systems subcontract details; communicates risks to the project team.
  • Reviews, negotiates, and processes change notices/orders related to building systems and assesses effects on budget and schedule.
  • Leads the project team and is responsible for overall execution of the building systems commissioning process.
  • Provides recommendations to site staff on project-specific improvements impacting building systems.
  • Develops and maintains strong customer-focused relationships with key stakeholders and decision makers.

Responsibilities

  • Reviews, negotiates, and processes change notices/orders related to building systems and assesses their effect on the project budget scope, and schedule.
  • Leads the project team and is responsible overall for the execution of the building systems commissioning process.
  • Provides recommendations to project site staff regarding project-specific improvements that may impact building systems.
  • Develops and maintains strong customer focused relationships with key stakeholders and decision makers.
Qualifications

  • Understanding od decision-making authority and ability to present solutions.
  • Ability to quickly adapt and become proficient with new software.
