Berlin Public Schools at Willard Elementary seeks a building substitute paraeducator to cover classes in the absence of a classroom teacher. The role supports classroom teachers and office staff when not substituting and carries out other duties as assigned.
The position begins at the start of the 2026-2027 school year with an hourly rate of $25.52 in accordance with the negotiated agreement. A Bachelor's degree is required, CT teaching certification preferred, and candidates should work well

Job Summary:
The building substitute paraeducator serves as building substitute in the absence of a classroom teacher; provides support to classroom teachers and office staff when not substituting; performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree required; CT Teaching Certification preferred. Knowledge of general concepts of child growth, development, and instruction; flexibility to adapt to varying school settings, schedules and classrooms; ability to work well with staff and students.Strong organizational skills with the ability to handle detailed work. Familiarity with computerized systems. Must possess a flexible nature, strong interpersonal, organizational and communication skills, and have the ability to work effectively with diverse groups, including students and adults.
Terms of Employment:
This position will begin at the start of the 2026-2027 school year. Hourly rate and benefits in accordance with the negotiated agreement between the Berlin Board of Education and Local 1303-276 of Council 4 AFSCME, AFL-CIO. Hourly rate for the 2026-2027 school year is $25.52.
