Job summary

CBRE Group, Inc. is seeking a Building Sr Engineer to monitor complex building systems and support a hospital facility in the Memphis area. You will manage repairs, perform preventive maintenance, and ensure compliance with codes while coordinating with contractors and clients.

Qualifications include a high school diploma or equivalent with 5–8 years of related experience, universal CFC, and HVAC/electrical/mechanical certifications. Strong problem solving and MS Office skills are essential.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma, GED, or trade school diploma with 5-8 years of related experience.
  • Shift supervisor experience preferred; Universal CFC certification required.
  • Additional HVAC, electrical, mechanical, process control, painting, plumbing, carpentry certs.
  • Must meet physical requirements including lifting up to 50 lbs and climbing.
  • Strong analytical and office software skills; organized and detail-oriented.
  • Ability to solve problems using standard and innovative approaches.
  • Proficiency with Word, Excel, Outlook; strong math aptitude.

Responsibilities

  • Assign work orders and estimate time/materials for repairs.
  • Maintain inventory of supplies and tools.
  • Perform maintenance/repair on mechanical, plumbing, electrical, and safety systems.
  • Ensure facility systems meet applicable standards and codes.
  • Develop energy management programs to improve efficiency.
  • Oversee outside contractors and respond to client inquiries.
  • Implement preventive maintenance and sign off on inspections.
  • Review building system inspections for fire, HVAC, and plumbing compliance.
  • Apply advanced knowledge to develop better methods and processes.
  • Coach others and model CBRE RISE values; lead by example.
  • Influence stakeholders to align with project objectives across teams.

  • As a CBRE Building Sr. Engineer, you will be responsible for monitoring complex building system operations and the performance of various areas including plumbing, electrical, painting, roofing, heating, and cooling.
  • This job is part of the Engineering and Technical Services job function. They are responsible for providing support, preventive maintenance, and repairs on equipment and systems.
  • CBRE is seeking a Building Sr Engineer to support our Healthcare sector, encompassing our hospital in the Memphis Tennessee area.
What You’ll Do:
  • Assign work orders and estimate the time and materials needed to complete repairs.
  • Maintain an inventory of adequate supplies and tools.
  • Perform maintenance and repairs to advanced mechanical, plumbing, structural, furniture, fire, life safety, and control systems.
  • Keep facility and building systems up to applicable standards as assigned.
  • Comply with all applicable codes, regulations, governmental agency, and company directives related to building operations and work safety.
  • Develop an energy management program. Ensure all systems operate in the most efficient manner.
  • Oversee and inspect the work performed by outside contractors. Respond to common inquiries or complaints from clients, co-workers, and/or supervisors.
  • Direct the implementation of a preventive maintenance program to ensure that building machinery and systems meet or exceed their rated life. Perform repairs and emergency maintenance as needed.
  • Review and sign off on inspections of building systems including fire alarms, HVAC, and plumbing to ensure the operation of equipment is within design capabilities and achieves environmental conditions prescribed by the client.
  • Apply advanced knowledge to seek and develop new, better methods for accomplishing both individual and department objectives.
  • Showcase expertise in own job discipline and in-depth knowledge of other job disciplines within the organization function.
  • Coach others to develop in-depth knowledge and expertise in most or all areas within the function.
  • Lead by example and model behaviors that are consistent with CBRE RISE values.

What You’ll Need:
  • High School Diploma, GED, or trade school diploma with 5-8 years of job-related experience. In lieu of a diploma, a combination of experience and education will be considered.
  • Prior shift manager or supervisory experience preferred. Universal CFC certification required.
  • Additional certification in one or more of the following: HVAC, electrical, mechanical, HVAC and refrigeration systems, process controls, mechanical power transmissions, painting, plumbing, carpentry or engine repair.
  • Meet the physical requirements of this role including stooping, standing, walking, climbing stairs/ladders, and the ability to lift/carry heavy loads of 50 lbs. or more.
  • The innovative mentality to develop methods that go beyond existing solutions.
  • Ability to solve unique problems using standard and innovative solutions having a broad impact on the business.
  • In-depth knowledge of Microsoft Office products. Examples include Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.
  • Expert organizational skills with an advanced inquisitive mindset.
  • Highly sophisticated math skills. Ability to calculate somewhat complex figures such as percentages, fractions, and other financial-related calculations.
