The Salvation Army Ray and Joan Kroc Corps Community Center – Phoenix is seeking a Building & Security Lead to supervise Attendants, coordinate shifts, and support the Facilities Director with hiring and evaluations.

You will oversee daily security operations, review timesheets in UKG, and conduct regular training while maintaining a courteous, safety-first environment for staff and guests. You will also monitor cameras, respond to incidents, and manage events including overnight coverage.

LOCATION:The Salvation Army - Ray and Joan Kroc Corps Community Center - Phoenix, Arizona

STATUS:Part Time/Non-Exempt

MISSION STATEMENT:

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Lead provides day-to-day supervision and work direction to Building & Security Attendants, including assigning and prioritizing work, coordinating staffing and coverage, providing coaching and performance feedback, addressing routine performance and attendance concerns, and ensuring required documentation is complete and accurate. The Lead assists the Facilities Director with hiring and formal performance evaluations.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent is preferred.
  • Three years of work experience in security, facilities maintenance, or a related field required.
  • Previous experience leading, supervising, or providing work direction to employees preferred.
  • Ability to train employees and provide day-to-day work direction.
  • Ability to organize schedules and coordinate shift coverage.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to carry out multiple tasks efficiently and independently.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Service-oriented with the ability to maintain a positive attitude while interacting with Kroc employees, guests, and the general public.
  • Maintain a non-judgmental attitude with customers, clients, and/or members of staff.
  • Certification in First Aid, CPR/AED must be obtained within two months of hire and maintained throughout employment.
  • Guard Card training must be completed within 30 days of the start of employment and maintained throughout employment.
  • Successful background check is required.
  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Must be available to work overnights as needed to support monitoring overnight operations.
  • May be required to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Must be available to work all mandatory Kroc events.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide day-to-day supervision and work direction to Building & Security Attendants, including assigning and prioritizing work based on operational needs.
  • Coordinate staffing and shift coverage, including reassigning duties and arranging coverage as needed to maintain appropriate staffing levels.
  • Set and communicate the security team's schedule.
  • Monitor UKG and review and approve timesheets.
  • Facilitate regular security team meetings and training sessions.
  • Assist the Facilities Director with 90-day and annual performance reviews.
  • Assist the Facilities Director with security team hiring processes.
  • Review Outlook communications and communicate relevant calendar events to the security team.
  • Coordinate with other departments to ensure setup requirements are accurately entered in RMS completed as scheduled.
  • Maintain the organization and operational readiness of the security office.
  • Coordinate and orient contracted guards and monitor their compliance with site requirements.
  • Assist with facility operations by providing a security presence during business hours and monitoring facility cameras.
  • Work independently overnight with minimal direct supervision.
  • Follow the nightly script to ensure that doors, windows, and gates are secure both inside and outside the facility and report any irregularities.
  • Review camera footage and save video clips for management review while maintaining appropriate confidentiality and ethical standards.
  • Keep an accurate and thorough communication log regarding irregularities for management and daytime staff review.
  • Investigate and report incidents and unusual activity as necessary.
  • Report security and maintenance issues via Upkeep work order system, email, and phone when irregularities are observed.
  • Exercise sound judgment in carrying out assignments independently.
  • Provide facility access to cleaning and maintenance vendors and monitor their activities while they are in the facility.
  • Interact with clients and other staff members in a courteous, professional, respectful manner.
  • Provide basic information about the facility and programs as necessary.
  • Provide setup and takedown of furniture and equipment for various programs and building uses.
  • Removal of trash, litter, and recyclable items.
  • Help to maintain the appearance of the facility’s grounds components including doors, windows, flooring, roofing, ceilings, and furnishings.
  • After training, perform basic operational procedures, including startup and shutdown, for HVAC, aquatics systems, fire alarms, and water, gas, and electrical utilities.
  • Respond to leaks, power outages, and building or grounds damage caused by inclement weather by reporting the issue and taking appropriate temporary corrective measures.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned as they relate to the position of Building & Security Lead.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Must have the ability to operate a telephone, a desktop or laptop computer, as well as the ability to access and produce information from a computer, and to understand written information.
