The Project Lead combines proactive client communications, field testing, and documentation to drive efficient project delivery and high-performance outcomes for HERS/ENERGY STAR/DOE programs.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Own assigned project scope, status, milestones, deliverables, next actions, and closeout; maintain accurate, current information in DGC's project-management and technical systems.
• Communicate proactively with builders, architects, trades, homeowners, business owners, clients, and internal team members.
• Schedule and conduct construction-phase field inspections, diagnostic testing, performance verification, and code/program testing.
• Conduct home and small-business energy assessments and existing-building evaluations; translate findings into reports and recommendations.
• Plan, assign, and coordinate inspections completed by DGC employees and regional rater partners.
• Prepare field and assessment reports, organize certification documentation, and track action items through resolution.
• Identify missing information, stalled decisions, and project risks early; communicate impact and drive next actions.
• Coordinate between energy models, field conditions, program requirements, and project teams.
• Maintain accurate, current project information in DGC's systems.
• Resolve routine project issues and elevate significant concerns when needed.

ABOUT THE ROLE

We are looking for a capable, growth-minded Building Performance Project Lead to own assigned projects and connect building science with real-world project execution. The role combines project leadership, proactive communication with clients and project teams, field inspections, diagnostic testing, home and small-business energy assessments, documentation, certification support, and operational follow-through.

This is a hands-on project-leadership position rather than a purely administrative, full-time field-inspector, or traditional energy-auditor role. The Project Lead will guide assigned projects from design through construction, inspection, documentation, and certification while also supporting selected existing-building assessments.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

• Own assigned project scope, status, milestones, deliverables, next actions, and closeout; maintain accurate, current information in DGC's project-management and technical systems; and keep inspections, energy models, documentation, and certifications organized and moving forward.
• Communicate proactively with builders, architects, trades, homeowners, business owners, clients, and internal team members so responsibilities, decisions, dependencies, and next steps remain clear.
• Schedule and conduct construction-phase field inspections, diagnostic testing, performance verification, and code/program testing.
• Conduct home and small-business energy assessments and existing-building evaluations as assigned; translate findings into clear reports, recommendations, and practical next steps.
• Plan, assign, and coordinate inspections completed by DGC employees and regional rater partners, ensuring that schedules, field information, and follow-up responsibilities remain clear.
• Prepare field and assessment reports, organize certification documentation, and track action items through resolution.
• Identify missing information, stalled decisions, and project risks early; communicate their impact and drive the appropriate next action.
• Coordinate between energy models, field conditions, program requirements, and project teams.

• Help develop and refine efficient workflows for project delivery, home and small-business energy assessments, field inspections, reporting, documentation, and partner-program requirements within DGC's technology stack.

EXPERIENCE WE VALUE

Strong candidates may come from several backgrounds, including:

• Rating Field Inspector, HERS Rater, or BPI-certified Building Analyst
• Residential construction project coordinator, assistant project manager, or construction administrator
• Home inspector, building inspector, building-envelope inspector, or quality-control professional
• Residential or commercial energy auditor, commissioning professional, diagnostic-testing technician, HVAC professional, energy modeler, or building-performance consultant

HERS or BPI certification is preferred but not required at hire. DGC will provide role-specific training and establish an appropriate certification plan based on prior experience and assigned responsibilities.

WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE

• Assigned projects and assessments remain current in DGC's project-management and technical systems, organized around clear next actions, and moving steadily toward completion.
• Project teams and assessment clients understand what is needed next.
• Inspections, assessment reports, certification documentation, and follow-up are completed on time and aligned with each project's schedule.
• Missing information and technical risks are identified early.
• Routine issues are resolved without constant senior involvement.
• The Project Lead drives proactive coordination, technical follow-up, and communication, while administrative and support staff assist with project logistics as needed. Assessment and field workflows become more efficient, consistent, and repeatable.

LOCATION, TRAVEL, AND WORK STYLE

This is a Colorado-based hybrid position that combines remote project work with regular field visits. Candidates may live in Summit County, along the Front Range, or elsewhere in Colorado, provided they can travel reliably to DGC's mountain-market projects.

Expect approximately one to two field days per week, including regular travel to Summit County and periodic travel to other Colorado mountain communities. Field work may include new-construction inspections, diagnostic testing, home and small-business energy assessments, and other technical site visits. A company field vehicle may be available for approved business travel.

COMPENSATION, TIME OFF, AND GROWTH

The anticipated salary range is $65,000–$78,000 annually, depending on relevant experience, credentials, field capability, and readiness to independently own assigned projects.
