Job summary

Sunpro is seeking a Building Materials Estimator in Maddens, ID to join our estimating team. You will read blueprints, perform material takeoffs, and generate quantities using approved software to support project bids and SPC objectives.

The ideal candidate has an Associate’s degree or equivalent and at least 2 years of construction industry experience, with strong attention to detail, analytical thinking, and clear written and verbal communication.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school.
• 2+ years experience in residential/commercial construction industry.
• Experience in material take-off processes and software preferred.

Responsibilities

• Visualize, fulfil, and implement the company vision and core values.
• Estimate building materials requirements using approved software while ensuring conformity to standards.
• Generate and provide accurate material quantities for estimating purposes.
• Generate layout and/or location specific material needs for construction.
• Use Bistrack Software for tracking and processing take off and estimating information.
• Read and interpret blueprints.
• Provide job-site support, with the aid of sales department, when requested.
• Attend and participate in all Company sponsored training programs as required.
• Adhere to all safety protocols and Company policies and procedures.
• Perform any other duties, responsibilities or tasks as assigned.

Function

Estimate and provides building material take off information in accordance to client specifications and SPC business objectives.

Key Activities

Knowledge and Skills

• Knowledge of building material estimating process.
• Ability to read and interpret architectural and structural blueprints.
• Knowledge of current local codes associated with building material supplies.
• Demonstrate initiative and reliability with minimal supervision.
• Analytical thinking skills and detail oriented.
• Good written and oral communication skills.

Education/Experience

• Associate's Degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• 2+ years experience in residential/commercial construction industry.
• Experience in material "take off" processes and software preferred.

Physical Requirements

• Sedentary work: extended periods of sitting.
• Lifting up to 50 lbs occasionally.
• Repetitive motion associated with operating a computer and other office equipment.
• Visit jobsites occasionally.
