The Building Manager provides excellent customer service to building residents and works as part of a collaborative team of building managers, safety specialists, and project managers. Although each Building Manager has assigned facilities in which they reside and focus, they work within a select team, participate in regular cross training, and provide back-up coverage for each other.
The Building Manager is expected to work independently to ensure that assigned facilities are appropriately maintained, sustainable, efficient, safe, secure, code-compliant, and accessible. The Building Manager also facilitates moderately complex construction and renovation projects, participates in complex renovation projects, interprets facilities policies and guidelines, and makes enhancements to facilities procedures. The Building Manager reports to the Mechanical Engineering Facilities Operations Manager. We seek candidates that have taken actions toward continuous improvement in their previous positions.
The Building Manager’s primary responsibility will be to oversee the William F. Durand and Hugh H. Skilling buildings, which house the Aero/Astro and Materials Science and Engineering departments. Together, the Building Manager and Facilities Operations Manager will coordinate resources, respond to operational needs, and ensure a consistent level of service and support across all assigned buildings.
These buildings are comprised of offices, unique research facilities, labs, maker spaces, and teaching spaces for both undergraduate and graduate students. In this role the Building Manager will be supporting faculty, staff, and students from multiple departments within the School of Engineering. The Building Manager will have significant responsibility in developing, streamlining, and improving operations of their assigned facilities.
