Job summary

Novo Nordisk in Clayton, NC, seeks a Facilities Engineer to maintain and improve the BMS system, ensuring compliance with customer, business, and regulatory needs across aseptic production and utilities. The role emphasizes reliability, planning, and cross-functional collaboration.

Qualifications include a engineering degree and at least 5 years in pharma/biotech settings with HVAC/utilities expertise; Siemens BMS familiarity and SAP/MS Office proficiency are preferred.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of engineering and HVAC/utilities troubleshooting in pharma/biotech manufacturing (aseptic preferred).
  • Knowledgeable in Siemens BMS - Insight & Siemens Historian – Info Center; MS Office & SAP familiarity.
  • Proven planning and project execution experience; customer-focused results.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute plans to maintain and improve the BMS system.
  • Develop IA project ideas and prepare PPM submittals.
  • Schedule and execute plans coordinating with operations.
  • Support IA projects and process improvement plans.
  • Maintain system documents including specs and maintenance plans.
  • Coach and train Facility Engineers and Technicians.
  • Apply LEAN tools in problem solving and change management.
  • Train users of the BMS.

You will be joining Fill & Finish Expansions (FFEx), which is responsible for all major expansion activities within aseptic production, solid dosage forms, finished products, fill & finish warehousing, and QC across all production areas in Product Supply. The area is anchored in Product Supply, Quality & IT, which globally employ approx. 20,000 of Novo Nordisk’s 50,000 employees.

You will be joining Fill & Finish Expansions (FFEx), which is responsible for all major expansion activities within aseptic production, solid dosage forms, finished products, fill & finish warehousing, and QC across all production areas in Product Supply. The area is anchored in Product Supply, Quality & IT, which globally employ approx. 20,000 of Novo Nordisk’s 50,000 employees. FFEx is a newly established and growing area with the responsibility to design, plan, and build all new aseptic filling capacity across Novo Nordisk to serve the needs of millions of patients. We do it by rethinking our production facilities with the use of modern technology, as we are setting the standards for the aseptic production of the future. The Position

Maintain & improve reliability of the BMS system to meet current & projected customer, business & regulatory requirements through the following tasks: people focus, equipment focus & standards gatekeeping.

Relationships

Reports to Manager, Facilities Engineering.

Essential Functions
  • Develop & execute plans to maintain & improve BMS system
  • Develop IA project ideas & prepare PPM submittals
  • Schedule & execute plans in coordination with operations schedules
  • Support IA projects & process improvement plans
  • Develop & maintain system documents, including specifications & maintenance plans
  • Coach & train Facility Engineers & Facility Maintenance Technicians
  • Employ cLEAN® tools within the main areas of problem solving, project & change management
  • Coach & train users of the BMS
Physical Requirements

May move equipment &/or supplies weighing up to 33 pounds within the facility using various body positions. May be required to be on your feet for up to a 12-hour shift. May required corrected vision to 20/20 or 20/25 based on role. May require color vision based on role. May require the ability to work in loud noise environments with hearing protections.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience required
  • Minimum of 5 years of engineering & strong HVAC/utilities troubleshooting experience in pharmaceutical or bio-tech manufacturing facility, especially within aseptic processing preferred
  • Technical/Process/Functional Knowledge: Knowledgeable in Siemens BMS - Insight & Siemens Historian – Info Center. Proficient in MS Office applications & SAP preferred
  • Organization/Planning: Proven expertise (e.g. project management) in planning/organization & project execution, follow-up & completion preferred
  • Customer/Results Driven Understands who the customer (internal/external) is, understands the customers’ requirements, prioritizes work & develops processes that support the customers’ needs a plus
