Job summary

Village at the Oaks in Muskegon, MI is seeking a Building Maintenance Technician to keep our community safe, comfortable, and well-maintained.

You’ll handle general maintenance, plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry, and other tasks, troubleshoot issues, perform routine inspections, and assist with room setups and projects. The role requires hands-on skills and the ability to work independently while collaborating with residents and staff.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• HVAC Certification preferred but not required.
• Previous maintenance or related hands-on experience preferred.
• Basic knowledge of plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry, or mechanical repairs is helpful.

Responsibilities

• Complete general building maintenance and repair work.
• Respond to maintenance work orders and troubleshoot problems.
• Perform minor plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and mechanical repairs.
• Assist with preventative maintenance on building equipment and systems.
• Repair doors, hardware, fixtures, furniture, flooring, and other building components.
• Help troubleshoot heating and cooling issues.
• Perform routine building and equipment inspections.
• Assist with room setups, furniture moves, and other facility projects.
• Work with outside contractors when specialized repairs are needed.
• Help respond to building emergencies such as water leaks, power outages, or equipment failures.
