Job summary

Lutheran Social Services (LSS) seeks a Maintenance Technician to keep our housing and program sites safe, welcoming, and functional across Madison, Beaver Dam, and Columbus. This full-time role features four 10-hour days weekly and a competitive pay range.

You will perform skilled repairs, prevent maintenance, and respond to emergencies, collaborating with staff, vendors, and contractors. A high school diploma and 2+ years of maintenance experience are preferred; a valid driver's license is

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • 2+ years of general maintenance or building repair experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and carpentry.
  • Ability to read blueprints and follow safety procedures.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
  • Willingness to travel between locations: Madison, Beaver Dam, Columbus.

Responsibilities

  • Perform skilled and semi-skilled maintenance work on apartment buildings, offices, and program sites.
  • Handle plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry, and general repairs.
  • Conduct preventative maintenance and safety inspections.
  • Maintain property appearance, curb appeal, and code compliance.
  • Respond to emergency maintenance calls as part of an on-call rotation.
  • Collaborate with team members, vendors, and contractors.
  • Operate snow removal and grounds maintenance equipment.
  • Purchase supplies and materials as needed within budget guidelines.

Maintenance Technician (Full-Time, 4-Day Work Week)

Location: Madison
Pay: $24-$26 per hour
Schedule: 4x10-hour days (Full-time)

What We’re Looking For

  • 2+ years of general maintenance or building repair experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of building systems (plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry).
  • Ability to read blueprints and follow safety procedures.
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation (required).
  • Willingness to travel between locations in Madison, Beaver Dam, and Columbus.
