Building Maintenance Supervisor - Worley Base - PRU016G

Worley

This is a remote/ rotational position, working two weeks on and two weeks off or three weeks on and three weeks off, in Prudhoe Bay, AK. The typical schedule is 84 hours per week (40 hours straight time and a minimum of 44 hours at time and a half). All meals and lodging are provided by Worley while the employee is on location. Transportation between Anchorage and Prudhoe Bay is provided.

Job Purpose:

Manages industrial shops, water/wastewater treatment plant and man camp building maintenance in Deadhorse, AK Responsible for the safety, scheduling, direction, coordination and supervision of craft personnel and equipment resources to accomplish maintenance work in a safe, environmentally responsible, and productive manner. This position involves supervision of one or more trade groups in a particular discipline.

The position is located on the North Slope and requires a rotational work schedule (three weeks on, three weeks off). Relocation assistance to Alaska is not provided; however, transportation between Anchorage and Prudhoe Bay is provided. Room and meals are provided while in Prudhoe Bay.

Essential Job Functions:

Primary point of contact for all facilities located in Deadhorse, Alaska for building maintenance, systems, and repairs.

Responsible for management of maintenance requests. Will be instrumental in establishing and accountable for maintaining a computerized building maintenance system (Fleet Focus) to track this work.

Responsible for operation of wastewater treatment facility attached to man camp (discharge only).

Plans and supervises workforce which may consist of Leads and/or craft in performance of assigned work activities. This may include determination of manpower levels, material quantities, equipment, work schedules and documentation of actual hours worked.

Coordinates assigned work with other groups or departments, different crafts, or other contractors.

Assists in resolving performance problems, such as lack of productivity, work interfaces, etc., as required.

Supports management in decision making, development and implementation of specific guidelines, procedures, policies, and measurable goals to help achieve company HSE and efficiency objectives.

Provides HSE guidance and leadership to their team leaders.

Interface with H.R. representatives to maintain communications, resolve disputes, requisition required personnel, recommend, and administer coaching and counseling sessions and deliver disciplinary action as required.

Monitors training and compliance with client and company safety and environmental procedures and policies, documents and ensures that corrective measures are implemented when required.

Maintains direct regular contact with client representatives to determine their work requirements and can positions the workforce to respond.

Recommends cost reduction ideas, offers comments on other suggestions as requested. Ensures subordinates are encouraged to manage all resources with a view towards cost reduction.

Routinely performs safety and productivity observations: shop, field, and vehicle inspections.

Attend various components of technical, developmental and safety training.

Accountable for regulatory compliance, preventative maintenance and required inspections on buildings and building systems, assigning work, and following through to completion.This includes, but is not limited to HVAC, Boilers, Electrical, Structural, Potable and Wastewater Treatment Systems, Overhead Cranes, etc. Will use computerized system to track this work.

Assures compliance with all applicable rules and regulations (OSHA, Fire Marshal, etc…)

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

Knowledge of the basic methods, materials and tools used in the building maintenance trades.

Knowledge of safe work practices and safety precautions utilized in the building trades.

Knowledge of laws and building codes affecting building repairs.

Knowledge of methods used in the maintenance of building equipment.

Some knowledge of estimating material and labor cost

Must possess strong supervisory, analytical, verbal, and written communication skills.

Functional proficiency with MS Office applications and ability to utilize various databases in support of building maintenance work.

Ability to prioritize maintenance work and effectively manage conflicts and assignments under time constraints and changing priorities.

Ability to manage a budget, reconcile budgetary differences and investigate.

Knowledge of wastewater treatment facility operations.

Physical Demands/Work Environment:

Work is performed in a remote Arctic environment with limited medical resources. Candidate understands the site is approximately 840 miles (at least 4 hours by air ambulance) from surgical, specialist, and tertiary medical care, and where medical evacuation from this location may be significantly delayed due to weather conditions. The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the essential functions of this job, the employee is required to:

Must have ability to stand, walk on level, uneven and slippery surfaces, sit, squat, kneel, crawl, reach through low and high ranges, work overhead, and exhibit normal balance and coordination. These basic physical requirements are essential for safe performance of the job in harsh environments with exposure to very cold temperatures and while wearing arctic gear.

Standing for prolonged periods of time.

Driving for prolonged periods of time in the dark and inclement weather

Ability to climb scaffold, ramps, stairs, equipment, portable ladders, and/or wellhouse/tank/facility fixed ladders of 20 feet or greater.

Ability to wear and utilize fall protection within manufacturer specifications.

Lift 50 lbs. from floor to waist with two hands.

Lift 50 lbs. from floor to shoulder with two hands.

Carry 50 lbs. for 15 feet with two hands.

Push/pull 60 lbs. sled for 20 feet.

Push/pull 90 lbs. cart for 20 feet.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in project management, Construction Management, Business, or related field.An equivalent combination of education, training, and work experience can be substituted.

Five to eight years work experience in the field of facility maintenance management, building operations, or support services leadership.

Five years’ work experience managing a team.

One (1) year experience working Office Suite programs (i.e., Word, Excel, & Outlook) required.

Valid driver’s license including ability to be insured by Worley auto insurer required.

High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
