Job summary

The Salvation Army in High Point, NC is seeking a skilled Maintenance Technician to perform HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and carpentry maintenance for our buildings and grounds. You will handle routine repairs and detect defects with minimal supervision.

Applicants should have two years of coursework in construction, HVAC, plumbing, and electronics and at least three years of relevant experience, plus a valid driver's license.

Qualifications

• Two years of coursework from a technical or vocational school in construction, HVAC, plumbing, and electronics.
• Three years of experience performing maintenance and repair work for commercial buildings and grounds, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
• Valid state driver’s license with a clean driving record.

Overview

Performs a variety of skilled maintenance work for buildings and grounds including heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC), plumbing, electrical, and carpentry work as well as routine maintenance and repairs.

Responsibilities & Duties

• Perform HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and carpentry maintenance and repairs.
• Detect defects in equipment and make proper repairs or adjustments.
• Follow instructions and work with little or no supervision.
• Care for and use tools and equipment, ensuring proper repairs or adjustments.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Knowledge of the methods, materials, tools, and practices used in at least two of the building, electrical, or mechanical trades.
• Knowledge of plumbing, electrical, construction, and air conditioning equipment.
• Understanding of occupational hazards and safety precautions of the trades involved.
• Skill in the care and use of tools and equipment.
• Ability to detect defects and perform repairs or adjustments.
• Ability to follow instructions and work with little or no supervision.
