Job summary

St Paul’s is seeking an Environmental Service Technician (Building Maintenance) to uphold the facility's condition and functionality for residents, staff, and visitors. You will perform routine maintenance, repairs, and custodial tasks to ensure a safe and comfortable environment within a long-term care setting.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED, with 2+ years of building maintenance experience; technical training or HVAC certification is preferred. EPA 608 certification is a plus.

Qualifications

• Technical training or certification in building maintenance, HVAC, or related field preferred.

Responsibilities

• Conduct regular inspections of the facility's mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems.
• Perform preventative maintenance on HVAC systems, boilers, and other critical equipment.
• Address and resolve work orders promptly, including minor repairs to fixtures, doors, flooring, and furniture.
• Maintain records of maintenance and repair activities, ensuring regulatory compliance.
• Monitor and manage building systems, including lighting, heating, cooling, and security.
• Assist in emergency response situations such as power outages or water leaks.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety, and fire code regulations.
• Coordinate with external vendors for specialized repairs and inspections.
• Provide prompt and courteous responses to resident and staff maintenance requests.
• Maintain a respectful and professional demeanor with residents, visitors, and staff.
• Assist with furniture moves, room setups, and event preparation as required.

Position Overview

The Environmental Service Technician (Building Maintenance) at the St Paul's is responsible for maintaining the physical condition, and functionality of the long-term care facility. This role ensures a safe, comfortable, and efficient environment for residents, staff, and visitors by performing routine maintenance, repairs, and custodial tasks in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.

Key Responsibilities

Maintenance and Repairs

Qualifications

Education and Experience

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Technical training or certification in building maintenance, HVAC, or a related field is preferred.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in building maintenance or a similar role, ideally in a healthcare or long-term care setting.

• Proficient in basic plumbing, electrical, and mechanical systems maintenance.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals.
• Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.

• Physical capability to lift heavy objects, climb ladders, and work in various environmental conditions.

Certifications And Licenses

• EPA Section 608 Certification (preferred).
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record (if applicable).
