The position of Building Inspector is available immediately. The City is seeking a qualified, experienced professional with strong analytical, communication, and enforcement skills. The ideal applicant will be a detail-oriented team member who can review construction plans, conduct field inspections, and clearly communicate code requirements to contractors, architects, and property owners. The Building Inspector is responsible for inspecting new and existing buildings and structures to ensure compliance with the State Uniform Construction Code and for enforcing the Code to protect public safety, health, and welfare. The candidate must be able to demonstrate an in-depth knowledge of building subcodes, structural design and analysis, basic material and fire protection standards, and applicable inspection tools and test methods. In addition, the ideal candidate shall be able to prepare clear, accurate inspection reports, maintain essential records, and testify in court when necessary to prosecute code violations.
