Job summary

SAFEbuilt is seeking a Building Inspector for the Greater Phoenix Area. The role involves field inspections during construction, plan reading, and enforcing code compliance.

You will report violations and maintain records while collaborating with staff and stakeholders to ensure safe, standards-based development. The ideal candidate has 3–5 years of municipal inspections experience, a high school diploma or equivalent, and a valid driving record.

Job Requirements

• Perform field inspections during various stages of construction
• Read and examine plans and specifications when required
• Report violations and maintain files/records
• Perform other related duties as required

Skills

• Extensive knowledge of local building codes and current construction procedures/technology
• Interpretation of codes in the field and ability to provide code compliant solutions
• Must possess the ability to positively interact with the other staff members, the general public, contractors, governmental entities, and other clientele
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Good time management, organization, and attention to detail skills
• Demonstrated ability to exercise initiative and a considerable amount of independent judgment

Special License/Registration/Certification

• ICC Commercial Building Inspector certification or multiple Residential Inspector certifications required.
• ICC Inspector certifications in additional trades are a plus!.

Experience

• 3-5 Years of experience in municipal code inspections
• High School or Equivalent
• Good Driving Record

COMPENSATION

SAFEbuilt pays competitive wages and has a strong benefits package.

Salary Range $43.00 - $50.00 per hour
