Salary Range: $74,880 – $114,400
Job Description
Interpret plans and specifications and make field inspections of residential and commercial buildings/structures to verify that construction, alterations, or repairs are being performed according to approved building plans and specifications and in compliance with building, electrical, plumbing, mechanical, energy, green building codes and related laws and ordinances.
The inspections will consist of building inspection services, code enforcement/property rehabilitation services, and business license clearances. Building inspection services will be provided during the construction phase of various improvement projects. Code enforcement/property rehabilitation services will be performed through inspection of properties, filing notices and complaints against violators of Los Angeles County building laws, and public nuisance abatement utilizing specified County procedures and policies. Business license clearances will be conducted on an as needed basis.
Personnel may be required to inspect and report to sites located throughout Los Angeles County. Personnel will also be expected to review electronic/digital plans and documents as directed.
Requirements
Qualified candidates to conduct building inspections must have a minimum of 5 years of experience in building inspections and be certified by ICC in building inspection trades. Must have knowledge and skills in building, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, energy, green building and other related codes and ordinances.
A valid ICC certification in building inspection (B1 and/or B2) and a valid certification in one of the following: electrical, plumbing or mechanical inspection is required.
