Job summary

McKenney’s Inc. seeks a BIM Project Engineer to join our team in Atlanta, GA. This 9–12 month entry-level position exposes you to preconstruction, design and virtual construction, fabrication workflows, field installation, and commissioning of mechanical systems.

You will learn the BIM detailing of ductwork, piping, and plumbing while coordinating with customers and other trades, and you will gain exposure to project estimation, supplier interactions, and on-site installation activities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in BIM Management, Engineering, Engineering Technology, or Construction Management.
• Equivalent degree with 1–2 years of project management experience overseeing technicians working with mechanical systems.
• If no degree, a minimum of 5+ years of internal experience with plumbing, piping, or HVAC systems in office or field.
• Must have PC experience in Windows environments and basic MS Office, email, and databases.

Responsibilities

• Detail mechanical systems (ductwork, piping, and plumbing) in BIM models.
• Coordinate McKenney’s BIM work with customers and other trades.
• Estimate projects and interact with suppliers, vendors, and subcontractors.
• Work in the field as part of installation crews and coordinate with project teams.

Overview

McKenney's Inc. is seeking a BIM Project Engineer to join our team in Atlanta, Georgia. This exciting role of Project Engineer is a 9-12-month entry-level position designed to expose the employee to McKenney’s processes, capabilities, and scope of work before moving into an Assistant Project Manager, BIM Project Manager, Engineer, or Sales Engineer.

POSITION SUMMARY

As a BIM Project Engineer, you will work in a team environment where you will participate and learn McKenney’s preconstruction processes, design and virtual construction, fabrication workflows, field installation of mechanical systems, and start-up and commissioning of those systems.

Responsibilities

Learning objectives in this role include, but are not limited to, the detailing of mechanical systems (ductwork, mechanical piping, and plumbing), coordinating McKenney’s work with customers and other trades through the BIM process, estimating projects, interacting with our suppliers, vendors, and subcontractors, and working in the field as part of an installation crew. In addition to this training, we expect the Project Engineer to develop good relationships through regular interactions with project managers, field and shop foremen, virtual construction team members, field operations, engineers, suppliers, and other trade sub-contractors.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in BIM Management, Engineering, Engineering Technology, or Construction Management.
• Will accept an equivalent business management degree with a focus in construction or engineering and 1-2 years of project management experience overseeing technicians working with mechanical systems.
• If no degree, a minimum of 5+ years of internal experience working with plumbing, piping, or HVAC systems in the office or the field.
• Must have PC experience in Windows environments, working knowledge of word processing, spreadsheets, e-mail, Web-enabled applications, and database software.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Demonstrated successful experience in the construction industry.
• Two years of experience managing mechanical work
• Strong Business Acumen (entrepreneurship counts)
• Knowledge of Account Management (managing multiple customers)
• Leadership exposure (conferences, training, etc.)
• Experience with Autodesk Fabrication, Revit, and Navisworks

WORKING CONDITIONS & PHYSICAL EFFORT

• Work will be performed in both a normal office environment and on active construction project sites.
