Job summary

CBRE is seeking a Laboratory Instrument Services Technician to calibrate, maintain, and complete minor repairs of scientific instrumentation. The role is part of Critical and Technical Services and supports technical maintenance in client environments.

You will take apart, calibrate, and repair equipment, operate test instruments, and coordinate with contractors during scheduled maintenance. Strong attention to detail and basic math skills are required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma, GED or trade school diploma with 1–2 years of related experience; combination of experience and education may be considered.
• Must have appropriate license or certification where required by law.
• Meet the physical requirements including lifting up to 50 lbs and climbing stairs/ladders.
• Ability to follow basic work routines and standards.
• Communication skills to exchange straightforward information.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
• Strong organizational skills with an inquisitive mindset.
• Basic math skills for percentages, discounts, and markups.

Responsibilities

• Take apart, examine, clean, fix, calibrate, check, and care for equipment, systems, and controls.
• Operate test equipment including multimeters and galvanometers.
• Coordinate removal of equipment needing basic repairs during maintenance periods.
• Record and report abnormal functions or out-of-tolerance conditions.
• Locate part sources and estimate costs.
• Document daily records of inspections, maintenance, repairs, and other work.
• Coordinate with external contractors on repairs covered by maintenance agreements.
• Assist with development of equipment, maintenance, and calibration procedures.
• Use existing procedures to solve straightforward problems under supervision.
• Deliver output by following defined procedures and processes.

About the Role:

This job is part of the Critical and Technical Services job function. They are responsible for technical maintenance services in critical client environments.

What You’ll Do:

What You’ll Need:

• High School Diploma, GED, or trade school diploma with 1-2 years of job-related experience. In lieu of a diploma, a combination of experience and education will be considered. Must have appropriate license or certification where required by law.

• Meet the physical requirements of this role including stooping, standing, walking, climbing stairs/ladders, and the ability to lift/carry heavy loads of 50 lbs. or more.

• Ability to follow basic work routines and standards in the application of work.

• Communication skills to exchange straightforward information.

• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products. Examples include Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.

• Strong organizational skills with an inquisitive mindset.

• Basic math skills. Ability to calculate simple figures such as percentages, discounts, and markups.

Pay Disclaimer - Not-Bonus Eligible:

CBRE carefully considers multiple factors to determine compensation, including a candidate’s education, training, and experience. The minimum salary for the Building Engineer position is $80,000 annually [or $38.46 per hour] and the maximum salary for the Building Engineer position is $90,000 annually [or $43.27 per hour]. The compensation that is offered to a successful candidate will depend on the candidate’s skills, qualifications, and experience.
