Job summary

Colliers in Joliet, IL seeks a Building Engineer to maintain the property’s mechanical, electrical, HVAC and plumbing systems. You will handle preventative and necessary maintenance, respond to client requests, and prioritize work orders to minimize downtime.

With 2–5 years of building maintenance experience and a valid driver’s license, you’ll work in a service-oriented environment, possibly on-call, supporting safety and reliability across the portfolio.

Qualifications

• 2–5 years experience in building/property maintenance or engineering.
• CFC Certification or ability to obtain.
• Solid knowledge of HVAC, electrical and plumbing systems.
• Flexibility to be on-call for after-hours or weekend emergencies.
• Valid driver's license and clear MVR.
• Licenses per building/jurisdiction may be required.

Responsibilities

About you

As the Building Engineer (fleet vehicle provided), you are familiar with maintenance systems and equipment. You bring strong organizational skills, a customer-centric approach, and a positive outlook to everything you do.

You'll be responsible for preventative maintenance, necessary maintenance, and most repairs to the buildings mechanical, electrical, HVAC and plumbing systems, ensuring the systems are running efficiently - and to ensure the safety of our clients and their properties. You will respond to client requests, prioritize, complete work orders, and follow up to ensure minimal downtime and communication.

What you'll bring

• At least 2-5 years' experience in building/property maintenance or engineer experience.
• CFC Certification (or ability to obtain).
• Solid working knowledge of HVAC systems/maintenance, electrical, plumbing, and other building mechanical equipment.
• Flexibility to be on-call to respond to after-hours / weekend emergency requests.
• A valid driver's license.
• Clear motor vehicle record (MVR).

Bonus Skills and Experience

• Holding any necessary/required licenses based on building and jurisdictional requirements.
• Strong organizational and analytical skills.
• Excellent communications skills.
• General handyman skills.

Approximate hourly Range for this Role: $32.60 to $37.40 USD

Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on this job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
