Job summary

  • Willingness to participate in on-call rotations and after-hours emergencies.
  • Previous experience in commercial real estate or property management is beneficial.

Role Description

The Building Engineer is a full-time, on-site role based in Dallas, TX, responsible for the efficient operation, maintenance, and repair of building systems and infrastructure. Day-to-day tasks include performing routine inspections, troubleshooting mechanical, electrical, and plumbing issues, and executing corrective and preventive maintenance on HVAC, plumbing, and general building equipment. The role collaborates closely with property management and vendors to coordinate repairs, support facility operations, and ensure tenant comfort and safety. The Building Engineer maintains accurate maintenance records, monitors building performance, and responds to service requests and emergencies in a timely, professional manner. This position also supports energy efficiency initiatives and compliance with safety and regulatory standards.

Qualifications
  • Strong skills in Building Maintenance and Maintenance & Repair for commercial facilities.
  • Experience with Plumbing systems, including diagnosis, repair, and basic installation.
  • Knowledge of Facility Management (FM) practices, including coordination of service providers and building operations.
  • Ability to perform and track Preventive Maintenance on HVAC, mechanical, and life safety systems.
  • Relevant technical training or certification in building engineering, HVAC, or related trades; trade school or associate degree preferred.
  • Working knowledge of building automation systems, safety protocols, and basic electrical and mechanical systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, drawings, and work orders, and maintain clear documentation.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and capacity to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Willingness to participate in on-call rotations and respond to after-hours emergencies as needed.
  • Previous experience in commercial real estate or property management environments is beneficial.
