Job summary

Kiewit is seeking several Building Design Managers/Project Managers for its Industrial Building A&E team in the United States. You will lead multi-discipline teams from concept through construction, manage contracts and budgets, and work in a matrixed environment to ensure on-time delivery and quality.

Relocation and travel up to 25% may be required for selected locations. Ideal candidates bring 10+ years in design/PM, with strong leadership, PM discipline experience, and knowledge of Design

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Structural Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Architectural Engineering required.
• Minimum of 10+ years of relevant design/PM experience, with at least 7 years in building design and 3 years leading a team.
• PE or RA license preferred.
• Experience with Design Build and EPC building execution.
• Industrial market sector experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead the building project team including architects, mechanical and electrical engineers, and BIM designers.
• Set productivity, quality, milestone, budget, and schedule expectations; monitor and recover as needed.
• Support project initiation and development in both estimate and execution phases for project success.
• Manage staffing to support each project and develop the team.
• Drive communication with stakeholders; develop and maintain schedules through design, procurement, installation, and commissioning.

In this role, you will be the primary interface with proposal and engineering project teams, supporting your assigned projects(s) from concept into execution, managing the contract, working in a highly matrixed environment. District Overview

Kiewit Architectural & Engineering (KAE) delivers fully integrated design and engineering solutions for some of North America’s most complex and high visibility infrastructure, energy and building programs. Location

This role is can be based out of the following locations: Lone Tree, CO, Lenexa, KS, Dallas TX or Houston TX. We offer relocation to Lenexa KS or Lone Tree CO only, otherwise, we would only consider local candidates in the Dallas or Houston locations. Expected travel of up to 25%.

Responsibilities

• Lead the building project team, along with being, the primary interface with project management, engineering discipline leads and other key stakeholders. The building project team encompasses architects, mechanical engineers, electrical engineers, and BIM designers.
• Set expectations, for productivity, and quality, as well as management and ownership of project performance (productivity, quality, milestones, manhour budget, commercial, and schedule). Monitor project and team metrics; As-needed identify underperformance early and implement recovery plans as soon as possible.
• Actively support project initiation and development in both the estimate and execution phases to ensure projects are set up for success.
• Manage project staffing needs to properly support each project with the mindset of serving both the project and the development of the team through setting and managing high expectations.
• Drive communication within the project team and various stakeholders ensuring understanding of ongoing activities, contractual requirements, budget, and overall project schedule. Working with our project controls team, develop and maintain schedules for design, procurement, installation through commissioning.
• Collaborate with the estimating department with lessons from production.
• Oversees understanding the entire building scope of a project. They are the primary interface with procurement, construction, the client, and project management regarding building design and execution.
• Maintain and continue to develop relationships with DB and EPC project stakeholders as the representative for of KAE’s center of excellence for buildings. Lead design reviews, and technical coordination between the disciplines to ensure milestones are being met.
• Leads weekly building internal coordination meetings, Engineering meetings, as well as attend weekly project meetings in project controls, model walks, procurement.
• Provide accurate forecasting of project man-power needs to IBG KAE department managers
• Define and own project schedules and various document control metrics
• Drive the DB and EPC mindset on the project team.
• Know and manage the project contract requirements and what was included in the project estimate.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a Architecture, Structural Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Architectural Engineering required. Masters preferred
• Minimum of 10+ years of relevant design/PM experience, performing functions as detailed above, with at least 7 years or more in building design and 3 years or more of relevant building project management experience leading a team (or a combination of those years in design plus management), where you have been the central point of contact for coordination of engineering, construction, and vendors.
• Professional Engineer (PE) or Registered Architect (RA) license, preferred
• Knowledge of multi-discipline industrial building design and at least 5+ years’ experience in similar leadership role as outlined above, leading technical resources, and managing scope/schedule/budget for a project, performing PM functions over the entire scope of a building project.
• The candidate should be a solution-driven individual with leadership experience, strong communication skills, and the ability to collaborate with a group of experienced professionals and drive things forward to completion.
• Experience with Design Build and EPC and Design Build building execution is required
• Candidates with experience in Industrial market sectors are required and may include any or many of the following: Pharmaceutical, Nuclear, Federal Projects, Aviation, Transportation, Data Centers/Advanced Technology, Hospitals, Education, Biotech, Distribution Centers, Power, Water/Wastewater Treatment, Sports Arenas, Facilities with regulated or clean rooms.
