Job summary

Palos School District 118 is seeking a Building Janitor for the 2nd shift (2:30 p.m. – 11:00 p.m.) with immediate start. Responsibilities include cleaning assigned areas, sanitizing surfaces, maintaining floors, restrooms, and preparing for events. Requires a high school diploma or GED and experience in building sanitation.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED; ability to communicate clearly in writing and speech.
• Experience in building sanitation and basic cleaning knowledge.
• Basic knowledge of supplies and equipment maintenance.
• Ability to meet work deadlines.
• Ability to follow instructions and communicate well with people.
• Must be flexible, cooperative, well-organized and punctual.
• Must be bondable; fingerprinting required by Illinois and FBI.

Responsibilities

• Clean specified areas as directed by building custodian.
• Vacuum carpet, mop floors, dust surfaces.
• Dust furniture, window sills, etc.
• Sanitize desks, chairs and door hardware.
• Empty trash and restrooms; replenish supplies.
• Clean whiteboards, wash surfaces, glass.
• Check for unsafe conditions and report to supervisor.
• Assist with set-ups and post-event cleanup.
• Support other staff with cleaning as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
