Job summary

Liberty Lines Transit, Inc. is seeking a Building Custodian to maintain and repair buildings, grounds, and company offices in Yonkers, NY. The role reports to the Building Manager of the Maintenance Department.

Responsibilities include carpentry, painting, window/door work, cleanup, and safe operation of hand tools and heavy equipment. Candidates must have a high school diploma or GED, a NYS driver’s license, and at least two years of custodial or maintenance experience.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma, GED or equivalent required.
• Must have and maintain an excellent NYS Driver’s License.
• Minimum two years’ experience with custodial, building maintenance or general repair.
• Experience with sludge, snow, and non-hazardous waste removal.
• Experience with the proper operation of a variety of hand power tools.

Responsibilities

• Perform daily building maintenance and repairs as listed, including carpentry, painting, wallpapering, window and door work.
• Clear, prepare, and clean up work areas and maintain safe tool usage.
• Operate heavy machinery and motorized equipment such as Bob Cat, forklifts, ladders, and waste removal equipment.

The Building Custodian shall perform all tasks related to the day-to-day duties in maintenance, repairs, and preservation of all buildings, grounds, and company offices.

Reporting Responsibilities:

This position reports to the Building Manager of the Maintenance Department.

General Duties/Responsibilities:

• Responsible for daily building equipment repairs, carpentry, painting, wallpapering, installing windows and doors, building modules and partitions, and all other building repairs and maintenance.
• Responsible for clearing, preparing, and cleaning up work area.
• Responsible for performing proper usage of tools and equipment in a safe manner.
• Responsible for utilizing heavy machinery and motorized equipment such as Bob Cat, forklifts, ladders, garbage trucks, etc.

Position Qualifications:

• Required a minimum High School Diploma, GED or equivalent.
• Must have and maintain an excellent NYS Driver’s License.
• Must have a minimum of two years’ experience with custodial, building maintenance or general repair.
• Must have experience with sludge, snow, and non-hazardous waste removal.
• Must have experience with the proper operation of a variety of hand power tools.

Physical and Sensory Requirements:

• Must be able to maintain manual dexterity when grasping, pushing, pulling, walking, climbing, lifting, kneeling, crouching, climbing, balancing self or equipment without accommodations.
• Must be able to perform job duties safely near moving mechanical parts.
• Ability to work both inside, outdoor, in all weather and surrounding conditions.
• Ability to work days, evenings, weekdays, weekends, holidays and overtime hours.
