Job summary

The Building People based in Augusta, Maine is seeking a full-time Control Technician to oversee retro commissioning and calibration of existing control systems. Responsibilities include maintaining project documentation, completing sensor calibrations, and assisting subcontractors on HVAC control systems. Ideal candidates should have excellent communication skills, proficiency in Microsoft Office, and at least 1 year of relevant experience. Qualifications

  • Strong ability to collaborate with project management and subcontractors.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate project documentation and redlines.
  • Perform sensor calibrations on HVAC control systems.
  • Tune PID loops on equipment programs for optimization.
  • Assist project sub-contractors with testing and balancing.
  • Help implement programming and sequences for DDC Systems.

Skills

Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
Previous experience with Niagara 4 workbench software
Strong analytical skills
Experience with electronics and basic electrical circuits
Basic understanding of DDC Control Theory and Applications

Education

At least 1 year of experience with programming, startup and/or commissioning of control systems
Niagara Ax or N4 certification

Job description

The Building People, LLC, has a position open for a full-time Control Technician to provide services related to the retro commissioning and calibration of existing control systems. The position will work with project managers and subcontractors to meet project requirements. The control technician will be responsible for assisting in calibration, point‑to‑point check‑out, programming, and testing of Direct Digital Control (DDC) building automation and control systems as directed.

*This position will require a minimum of 25% travel

Responsibilities/Duties
  • Helps to maintain accurate and thorough project documentation and redlines
  • Complete sensor calibrations on HVAC control systems
  • Complete PID loop tuning on equipment programs to optimize equipment operation
  • Assist with project sub-contractors where needed, specifically test and balance contractors
  • Assist the project team in the engineering of control system hardware and software programming based on project plans, specifications, and other contract documents
  • Helps to implement programming, graphics, and sequences of operations for Direct Digital Control (DDC) Systems.
Required Skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Previous experience with Niagara 4 workbench software

  • Thorough understanding of and ability to use appropriate tools, including test equipment to aid in calibration of sensors
  • Excellent customer service and ability to work well with others
  • Basic understanding of DDC Control Theory and Applications as related to HVAC equipment
Required Experience/Education
  • At least 1 year of experience with programming, startup and/or commissioning of control systems
  • Niagara Ax or N4 certification a plus but not required
  • Understanding of installation of controls equipment and ancillary devices/sensors
Physical Requirements
  • Physically able to climb overhead or crawl under spaces to complete jobs
