Job summary

JLL is seeking a Critical Facilities Engineering Manager (P3) in Durham, NC to lead the Building Controls team for power monitoring systems across multiple sites. The role is onsite with a Mon–Fri schedule, reporting to the Regional Facilities Manager.

The candidate should bring hands-on control systems experience, PLC programming, and knowledge of SCADA/HMI systems. Preferred qualifications include an associate degree or technical certification in Electrical Engineering Technology or Automation

Qualifications

• 2+ years hands-on experience installing, testing, and maintaining control systems in industrial environments.
• Experience with PLC programming and troubleshooting across building automation systems.
• Familiarity with Johnson Controls, Schneider, Honeywell and similar controls platforms.

Responsibilities

• Oversee maintenance and operations of power monitoring systems across a region.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, clients and stakeholders.
• Develop and modify Visio drawings for field changes and engineering corrections.
• Support energy management in multiple locations (NC, MA, CA, UT, VA) as needed.
• Respond to service calls and provide system restoration.
• Recommend equipment modifications for energy efficiency and reliability.

JLL - Critical Facilities Engineering Manager (P3)

Work Schedule: Onsite, M-F 7:30 AM-4:30 PM

Reports to: Regional Facilities Manager

Estimated base salary range: $85,000 - $102,000

What this job involves

The Building systems Integration/Controls Tech - responsible for overseeing the maintenance and operations of our power monitoring systems within a specific region. Technical expertise to collaborate with cross-functional teams, clients, and stakeholders.

What your day-to-day will look like

• System integrated development to include OPC (DMZ), Power Management Expert, Johnson Metasys System and SQL Database
• Modify or Build Visio drawings of field changes and discrepancies for engineering corrections
• Power Management Expert for NC Locations (Data Center, Administration and Manufacturing Buildings) and MA, CA, UT, VA as necessary.
• Performs preventive maintenance on energy management systems and equipment to include log files, metering accuracy, energy KWH reporting-monthly (ISO 50K SEUs) ISO 50K SEUs, RTUs, Busway, Lighting, Compressed Air, Data Center and Utility Main SWG. Modbus Gateway Communication, Dashboard Capacity/Load Reporting, Data Center/Labs, Architectural Review-annually including TAGS Compliance
• Responds to service calls to restore systems operation and control.
• Provides recommendation on equipment/systems operation and modification for energy conservation, efficiency, and reliability. Product/device validation to ensure meets Customer cybersecurity requirements: Parallel Switching Gear-SCADA, UPS Energy Management and SCADA-Power Management Expert

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent
• 2+ years of hands‑on experience installing, testing, and maintaining control systems in Industrial maintenance, electrical troubleshooting, Automation or controls environments
• PLC programming & troubleshooting (Programmable Logic Controllers)
• HMI/SCADA systems (Human‑Machine Interface / Supervisory Control)
• Control panels, relays, sensors, actuators
• Reading schematics & wiring diagrams
• Pressure, temperature, flow sensors
• Knowledge of industrial networks (Ethernet/IP, Modbus, etc.)
• Basic understanding of Motors, drives (VFDs), Controller programming - Johnson Controls, Schneider, Honeywell, etc.

Preferred qualifications

• Associate degree or technical certification Electrical Engineering Technology, Automation Engineering, HVAC Controls (for building systems)
• PLC programming certifications (Allen‑Bradley, Siemens, etc.)
• CCST Control Systems Technician
• CCE Certified Controls Engineer
