Job summary

The Town of Easton, MD is seeking a Building Code Inspector / Plans Examiner for the Code Enforcement Department to inspect buildings, review applications, plans, and permits for compliance, and issue permits. Candidates should have a HS diploma or GED, a valid driver’s license, and pursue ICC certifications; two years in building construction and three years in supervision/inspection are desirable.

Continuing education will be required to maintain ICC certifications.

Qualifications

• Thorough knowledge of building codes, zoning and construction practices.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision and maintain detailed records.

Responsibilities

• Inspect buildings and dwellings to enforce Town codes for commercial, residential and industrial construction.
• Review applications, construction documents, plans and specifications for compliance; issue permits.
• Perform administrative duties: record-keeping, notices, scheduling inspections, documentation, and reporting to Code Official.
