The John F. Kennedy School is a K-4 elementary school with approximately 325 students. It is our mission to build a nurturing environment in which all children grow in their confidence as well as in their ability to read and write successfully. We want our readers to develop skills and read materials that will make them independent, confident readers. We need to allow them many different opportunities to read at their own independent reading level in order to develop a strong foundation for the lifelong enjoyment of reading. We also believe our children should grow in their ability to know and do mathematics and become better mathematic problem solvers. Our children should explore mathematics in ways that stimulate curiosity and develop depth of understanding. Their mathematics program should focus on problem solving and exploring the connection between mathematics and real life experiences. With the help of parents and the community we will promote a school climate of respect, cooperation, responsibility, and an understanding of everyone's obligation to the community.
