Job summary

Cenergistic in Dallas, TX is seeking a Technical Consultant – Building Automations System to optimize client energy programs and train non-technical staff on control systems. The role focuses on programming HVAC controls and improving system efficiency.

You will work with facilities and maintenance directors to address mechanical issues, review control settings, and write sequences of operation for energy savings.

Qualifications

  • Extensive knowledge of building systems from both design and operational perspectives.
  • Proven programming experience with HVAC systems in the educational, healthcare, and industrial markets.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience programming HVAC system operations.
  • Degree from a technical or trade school preferred.
  • Ability to write clear and concise reports detailing technical recommendations for HVAC controls.
  • Ability to train others on HVAC and controls systems.
  • Commissioning or retro-commissioning experience a plus.
  • Windows/PC skills, including competence with Microsoft Office Suite.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate both surface and in-depth programming knowledge of various controls systems/multiplatform (e.g. Tridium, Carrier, Trane, Alerton, ALC and Johnson Controls, Siemens).
  • In-depth knowledge of HVAC system operation including chillers/boilers and packaged DX systems.
  • Write sequences of operation for improved efficiency of HVAC equipment.
  • Troubleshooting, testing and commissioning BAS & HVAC systems and electronics.
  • DDC Applications Programming, both graphical and text-based systems.
  • Read and understand mechanical plans and wiring diagrams.
  • Coordinate work with other trades (i.e., electricians, HVAC technicians, mechanical engineers, information technology, etc.).
  • Document work and procedures including point to point checkout and commissioning.
  • Train non-technical personnel on HVAC and energy-consuming systems.
  • Utilize technical knowledge base to advise on energy efficient operational strategies for building systems for HVAC systems including chillers/boilers, air-handlers, variable refrigerant flow (VRF), etc.
  • Prepare written reports, assessments, and recommendations, with a focus of return on investment for use by clients in assessing the benefits of implementing Cenergistic technical recommendations.
  • Ability to travel up to 80%.

The Technical Consultant – Building Automations System is responsible for optimization of a client energy program’s mechanical and control systems and training clients and non-technical personnel on those systems. The Consultant works with Facilities and Maintenance Directors to address mechanical and control issues for buildings. The Consultant reviews HVAC control settings and adjusts according to the client’s guidelines & Cenergistic implementation standards.
