Siemens Mobility invites undergraduates to join the Building Automation Systems Project Management Internship in Summer 2027 at the Laurel, Maryland office. The program runs 10 weeks with full-time hours (40/week) and start dates in May or June 2027.

• Pursuing a degree in Construction Management, Mechanical/Electrical/Industrial Engineering, Computer Science, Energy/Sustainability or Built Environment.
• Ability to work 40 hours per week for the 10-week program (May–July or June–August).
• Must be located within 50 miles of Laurel, MD with reliable transportation.
• Program does not support visa holders (F1/J1/M1/H1B, OPT/CPT).

Responsibilities

• Rotate through departments at the Laurel office, focusing on smart buildings and sustainable infrastructure.
• Spend 80% of time on project management activities and scheduling; shadow senior staff.
• Spend 10% of time with sales to learn go-to-market strategies.
• Spend 10% of time in service department for post-sale tasks.
• Rotate through core business segments (HVAC, Fire/Life Safety, Security, Energy/Sustainability).

What is Building Automation?

Siemens Building Automation Systemsis a building management system (BMS) that automatically manages and controls all systems within a building. These systems include lighting, heating, cooling, ventilation, fire detection and notification, CCTV, door and window controls, water and waste management. It consists of sensors, controllers, software and communication devices. Siemens offers building automation systems for all building types and sizes, and for every use. The system is designed to manage a wide range of building systems, such as HVAC, lighting, security, fire safety, and other critical building functions.

What you will do as a Building Automation Systems Project Management Intern

• During this 10-week internship program, you will rotate through various departments at the local branch office, focusing on smart buildings and sustainable infrastructure
• 80% of your time will be spent on project management-related activities (learning how to manage a construction project, on-the-job training, and shadowing, etc.)
• 10% of your time will be spent with the sales department learning how we go-to-market and sell our solutions and services
• 10% of your time will be spent in our service department, focusing on the service-related tasks needed to deliver world‑class service to Siemens customers
• You may get experience rotating through our core business segments, which include HVAC, Fire/Life Safety, Security, and Energy/Sustainability Systems

Responsibilities while working alongside current Project Managers and Associate Project Manager, you will:

• Review project specifications, drawings, and project-specific documents to establish a project delivery plan
• Develop and maintain a project schedule, as well as coordinate needs with the project team, identifying time-sensitive installation needs
• Manage the procurement of supplies and materials to complete projects
• Participate in project cost reviews
• Track labor resources and project progress
• Pursue project-specific change-order opportunities
• Complete project-specific close‑out documentation
• Rotate through other departments within the branch office to learn about how our branch organization operates as a whole

The goal of this internship program is to develop future talent for the Siemens organization and help you identify where you may be interested in pursuing a career at Siemens post‑graduation.

• Must be current enrollment as an undergraduate at an accredited 4‑year U.S. college or university.
• Pursing a degree in Construction Management, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Computer Science, Energy/Sustainability and Built Environment.
• Ability to work 40‑hours per week for the 10‑week program (May - July or June - August)
• Eligible candidate must be located within 50 miles of office location with access to a reliable vehicle, as this role does not provide transportation, housing or relocation support.
• This program does not support students on a Visa such as F1, J1, M1 and H1B as well as OPT/CPT.

You’ll Benefit From

• The hourly pay range for this position is 24 per hour for first time Interns or 28 per hour for returning Interns. The actual wage offered may be lower or higher depending on budget and candidate experience, knowledge, skills, qualifications, and premium geographic location. Additionally, interns for Siemens are eligible to contribute into our 401K program.
