Siemens Building Automation Systems Project Management Internship in Houston offers a 10-week, full-time opportunity to rotate through smart building and sustainability teams. You will focus on project management tasks, shadow senior PMs, and learn go-to-market concepts across HVAC, fire/safety, and energy systems.

Qualifications

• Must be enrolled as an undergraduate at a U.S. 4-year college.
• Pursuing CM, ME, EE, IE, CS, Energy/Sustainability or Built Environment.
• Able to work 40 hours per week for the 10-week program (May–July or Jun–Aug).
• Own a personal vehicle for site travel; mileage reimbursement provided.
• Visa or OPT/CPT restrictions apply (not supported).

Responsibilities

• Review project specs and docs to establish a delivery plan.
• Develop and maintain a project schedule with the team.
• Manage procurement of supplies and materials.
• Participate in project cost reviews and track progress.
• Rotate through departments to learn branch operations.

Hours: Full-time, 40 hours/week

What is Building Automation?

Siemens Building Automation Systems is a building management system (BMS) that automatically manages and controls all systems within a building. These systems include lighting, heating, cooling, ventilation, fire detection and notification, CCTV, door and window controls, water and waste management. It consists of sensors, controllers, software and communication devices. Siemens offers building automation systems for all building types and sizes, and for every use. The system is designed to manage a wide range of building systems, such as HVAC, lighting, security, fire safety, and other critical building functions.

What you will do as a Building Automation Systems Project Management Intern

• During this 10-week internship program, you will rotate through various departments at the local branch office, focusing on smart buildings and sustainable infrastructure
• 80% of your time will be spent on project management-related activities (learning how to manage a construction project, on-the-job training, and shadowing, etc.)
• 10% of your time with be spent with the sales department learning how we go-to-market and sell our solutions and services
• 10% of your time will be spent in our service department, focusing on the service-related tasks needed to deliver world-class service to Siemens customers
• You may get experience rotating through our core business segments, which include HVAC, Fire/Life Safety, Security, and Energy/Sustainability Systems

Responsibilities while working alongside current Project Managers and Associate Project Manager, you will:

• Review project specifications, drawings, and project-specific documents to establish a project delivery plan
• Develop and maintain a project schedule, as well as coordinate needs with the project team, identifying time-sensitive installation needs
• Manage the procurement of supplies and materials to complete projects
• Participate in project cost reviews
• Track labor resources and project progress
• Pursue project-specific change-order opportunities
• Complete project-specific close-out documentation
• Rotate through other departments within the branch office to learn about how our branch organization operates as a whole

The goal of this internship program is to develop future talent for the Siemens organization and help you identify where you may be interested in pursuing a career at Siemens post-graduation.

• Must be current enrollment as an undergraduate at an accredited 4-year U.S. college or university.
• Pursing a degree in Construction Management, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Computer Science, Energy/Sustainability and Built Environment.
• Ability to work 40-hours per week for the 10-week program (May - July or June - August)
• There is no relocation or housing stipend for this program.
• The intern must have their own personal and reliable vehicle to travel to customer sites. Mileage reimbursement will be provided.
• This program does not support students on a Visa such as F1, J1, M1 and H1B as well as OPT/CPT.
