Job summary

Bosch Building Technologies North America is seeking a Building Automation System Specialist Senior (BAS) to join our Irving, Texas team. This senior role focuses on commercial BAS design, programming, commissioning, and ongoing operation in mission-critical environments.

You will lead start-up, troubleshooting, and collaboration with design and service teams, ensuring accurate documentation and reliable system performance for large facilities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or equivalent.
• 5+ years supporting building automation in commercial or mission-critical environments.
• 5+ years of controls programming, commissioning, and troubleshooting.
• Ability to read electrical diagrams and troubleshoot circuits.
• Experience with BAS systems: Distech, Alerton, Tridium, Niagara, Delta Controls, Metasys or similar.

Responsibilities

• Provide controls programming, graphics, and sequences per design documents.
• Start-up, commissioning, and point-to-point checkout on projects.
• Support other contractors on site and assist in estimated/project planning.
• Backup software and maintain commissioning documentation.
• Provide ongoing service and troubleshooting to ensure code compliance and operability.
• Assist in turnover, project documentation, and as-built drawings.

Job Description

Job Summary: Systems Specialist Senior is a highly experienced controls professional with extensive expertise in building automation systems, building management controls, and mission‑critical environments. This role requires advanced technical skills in commercial building automation systems, along with strong communication and leadership abilities. The specialist demonstrates a thorough understanding of control system hardware and software, applies control theory principles, and supports troubleshooting, commissioning, and long-term operation of complex automated systems.

Responsibilities:

• Provide Controls database, graphics, programming, etc. for sequences as provided by the Design Specialist, project specifications, or other applicable sources. (Distech, Alerton, Tridium, experience preferred)
• Provide accurate controls of systems start-up and commissioning including point-to-point checkout on projects as assigned. Verify correct alarm, annunciation, and other actions by equipment, devices, panels, and annunciators of Controls projects.
• Provide information and support for other contractors on project site.
• Debug installation issues during both the static and dynamic start up and commissioning of building controls.
• Provide support to Bosch Building Technologies' and other contractors to solve building operating issues that go beyond the controls or special systems operation.
• Provide input to others as requested or required to assist in the accurate estimation, design, installation, start up, commissioning, and training for building systems.
• Provide start up documentation including daily logs, check out logs, commissioning documents, etc. as required for assigned projects.
• Ensure timely software backups are created for projects and software development.
• Provide service support on existing installations ensuring systems continue to meet existing building occupancy codes.
• Provide service support on existing systems ensuring their proper and efficient operation as well as providing ongoing support to the facility’s building engineers.
• Complete time sheets, service work orders, and other paperwork required for this position in an accurate and timely manner.
• Assist in preparing of as-built drawings and Operation & Maintenance Manuals.
• Assist in turnover of projects from Operations Team to Service Team.
• Assist Sales team during estimating phase including potential product or system demonstrations.
• As necessary, travel will be required to the job site to complete startup, commissioning and assistance to the onsite personnel to complete the project. This will be on a case-by-case basis, depending on the size, scope, and requirements of the project(s).

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• 5+ years of experience supporting building automation systems in industrial, mission‑critical, or commercial building environments.
• 5+ years of experience with controls programming, commissioning, and troubleshooting.
• Working knowledge of troubleshooting basic electric and electronic circuitry, including reading and interpreting electrical and electronic diagrams.
• Experience with one or more of the following, Distech, Alerton, Tridium, Niagara Framework, Delta Controls, Johnson Metasys, Siemens Metasys or related building controls systems.
• Basic to intermediate mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts clearly to both technical and non‑technical audiences.

Preferred Qualifications:

• 7+ years of experience in commercial building automation systems controls, mission‑critical, or industrial building automation environments.
• 7+ years of building controls programming and system integration experience.
• Master's degree in computer engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Electrical Engineering.
• Certified in at least 1 building automation controls systems manufacturer, Niagara N4 preferred.
• Experience with HVAC controls, building automation systems (BAS), and DDC systems.
• Working knowledge of BACnet protocols and DDC controls.
• Experience supporting commissioning, retrofits, and long-term service of operational control systems.
