Job summary

Jobot is seeking a skilled Building Automation Service Technician to support the Greater Boston area, ensuring BAS and HVAC systems operate reliably for commercial clients. You will deliver onsite technical support, preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and system optimization for a portfolio of BAS customers.

The role requires 3+ years of hands-on BAS/HVAC experience, strong electrical/mechanical skills, and knowledge of BACnet/Modbus.

Qualifications

• 3+ years hands-on BAS/HVAC service experience.
• Strong mechanical, electrical, and controls troubleshooting.
• Experience with BAS platforms and protocols (BACnet, Modbus).
• Ability to explain technical issues to customers and team members.
• Valid driver’s license required.

Responsibilities

• Perform on-site PM and service visits on BAS and HVAC equipment.
• Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair BAS hardware and control systems.
• Support system start-ups, testing, calibration, and verification.
• Collaborate with customers, facility managers, and internal teams to resolve issues.
• Assist with software/firmware updates, backups, and configuration checks.
• Respond to service calls and dispatch requests, including after-hours as needed.
• Maintain accurate service documentation and field logs.

Building Automation Service Technician

Location: Greater Boston, MA (Chelmsford / surrounding areas)

Salary: $35 - $55 per hour

About the Role:

We're seeking a skilled Building Automation Service Technician in the Boston area. This role supports commercial and institutional clients by ensuring their building automation systems (BAS) and connected HVAC equipment operate reliably and efficiently. You'll be the boots on the ground delivering onsite technical support, preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and system optimization for a portfolio of BAS customers.

What You'll Be Doing

• Perform on-site preventative maintenance (PM) and service visits on building automation systems and associated HVAC equipment.
• Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair BAS hardware and control systems to minimize downtime and ensure peak performance.
• Support system start-ups, testing, calibration, and point-to-point verification.
• Work with customers, facility managers, and internal teams to resolve technical issues professionally and efficiently.
• Assist with software/firmware updates, system backups, and configuration checks.
• Respond to service calls and dispatch requests in a timely manner (including emergency or after-hours as needed).
• Maintain accurate service documentation, reports, and field logs.

Preferred Requirements:

• 3+ years of hands-on experience with building automation systems (BAS), HVAC controls, DDC systems or related service work.
• Strong mechanical, electrical, and controls troubleshooting skills.
• Experience working with BAS platforms and common protocols (BACnet, Modbus, etc.).
• Comfortable using diagnostic tools, handheld meters, software utilities, and network interfaces.
• Valid driver's license and safe driving record.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain technical issues to customers and team members.

Nice to Have

• BAS manufacturer experience with systems such as Niagara, Alerton, Automated Logic, Honeywell, or similar.
• HVAC mechanical or electrical training/certification.
• EPA Type II or universal refrigerant handling certification.
