Job summary

Hilmar Cheese Company is seeking a Building and Groundskeeper to maintain the cleanliness and condition of our facilities at Dodge City, KS. You will perform basic maintenance tasks, operate tools, and support safety and sanitation programs while coordinating with teams.

Strong English skills, a high school diploma, and experience with Word/Outlook are preferred; SAP work orders and Excel experience are a plus. The role emphasizes safety, teamwork and adherence to quality standards.

Qualifications

• English skills must be proficient to understand, read, write and speak English.
• High School diploma or GED from an accredited institution.
• Demonstrates proficiency on position specific maintenance skill requirements form.
• Intermediate experience with Microsoft Word and Outlook.

Responsibilities

• Use basic power and landscaping tools, street sweeper, forklift, etc.
• Anticipate and take care of issues that would negatively affect quality audits of the grounds.
• Troubleshoot and make basic repairs to plumbing and sprinkler systems.
• Basic knowledge of HVAC systems, change filters and clean vents.
• Maintain inventory of supplies.
• Support Buildings and Grounds Mechanic.
• Comfortable with direct customer interface across entire HCC organization in a professional and positive manner.
• Ensure all safety procedures are followed according to HCC safety policies.

A Typical Day

The Building and Groundskeeper is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness of the buildings and grounds assets of Hilmar Cheese Company.

Job Responsibilities

• Use basic power and landscaping tools, street sweeper, forklift, etc.

• Create work orders using SAP.
• Demonstrate a high level of communication, cooperation and teamwork with all levels in Hilmar Cheese Company.
• Active participation and ownership in your training and development program and associated activities, classes and events, which will be held before, during, after shifts and during scheduled days off.
• Help coach and train teammates and participate in on the job, buddy training.
• Place high priority on food safety and sanitation by understanding and executing HCC’s food safety and sanitation policies and procedures.
• Hold self and others accountable to HCC’s food safety & sanitation guidelines and policies by communicating any food safety incident, observation, or opportunity to your leadership team or teammates.
• Participate in food safety and sanitation root cause analysis and improvement activities when required.
• Prioritize safety above all other job duties by having a safety first approach at all times.
• Report any safety issues, observations, opportunities to your teams and follow up.
• Participate in departmental safety teams.
