Job Summary:

The Budget/Financial Analyst I–II provides financial-management support to Department of Defense acquisition and program-management offices. Working with guidance from senior analysts and program leadership, the analyst helps prepare and monitor spend plans, maintain accurate financial records, support budget submissions, and develop recurring reports. This role is well suited to an early-career professional who brings strong analytical and organizational skills and wants to build expertise in DoD budgeting, financial execution, and audit readiness. As experience grows, the analyst will take greater ownership of recurring analyses, reporting, and stakeholder coordination.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with preparing and updating spend plans, budget exhibits, financial-action requests, and funding realignments
  • Support Program Objective Memorandum submissions by collecting data, validating inputs, and maintaining supporting documentation
  • Create, update, and reconcile financial trackers, reports, and supporting records
  • Help update Capital Asset Cost Forms and other required program-financial documentation
  • Collect and document information related to contract and reimbursable funding, equipment transfers, capital improvements, and delivered assets
  • Maintain organized, auditable records and support data calls, reconciliations, and audit-response activities
  • Monitor financial execution against plans, identify variances, and prepare clear status reports for review
  • Coordinate with program managers, contracting personnel, customers, and other stakeholders to clarify financial requirements and resolve routine issues
  • Use Microsoft Excel and financial-management or reporting systems to organize, analyze, and present data
  • Manage assigned priorities, meet deadlines, and communicate questions or risks promptly

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business administration, economics, public administration, data analytics, or a related field; an equivalent combination of education, training, military service, and relevant experience may be considered
  • One to eight years of relevant experience in finance, budgeting, accounting, business analysis, program support, or a related area; qualifying internships or military financial-management experience may be considered
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and the ability to organize, analyze, and verify financial data
  • Strong attention to detail, written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to learn new processes and systems
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Active Secret clearance or higher
  • Coursework or experience related to federal or DoD budgeting, acquisition, accounting, or program support
  • Familiarity with the Planning, Programming, Budgeting, and Execution process, Program Objective Memorandum activities, or congressional budget materials
  • Experience with one or more financial-management, accounting, enterprise resource planning, or reporting systems; familiarity with PBIS, WAWF, MOCAS, or SAP is a plus
  • Relevant financial-management certification, or interest in pursuing one after hire

Application & Job Requirements:

  • Work Location: On-site – Stafford
  • Employment Type: Full-Time

Candidate Profile:

The ideal candidate is an organized, detail-oriented analyst who can work effectively with data, follow established processes, and communicate clearly with technical and nontechnical stakeholders. The candidate may bring foundational finance or budgeting experience from government, military service, internships, education, or the private sector. Success in this role requires curiosity, accountability, sound judgment, and a willingness to learn DoD financial-management processes. Junior-level hires will receive guidance on defined assignments, while mid-level hires will be expected to independently manage recurring analyses and coordinate routine financial activities.

Salary Range:

The anticipated base salary range for this position is $65,000–$90,000 annually. Placement within the range will reflect the selected level—Analyst I or Analyst II—and will depend on relevant education, experience, certifications, security-clearance status, and other job-related factors.
