Job summary

The New York State Division of the Budget is seeking a Budget Examiner to join the Fiscal Planning Unit. The role analyzes and develops the State's Financial Plan, issued quarterly, and informs leadership on financial strategy.

You will analyze budget estimates, project spending trends, and monitor operational metrics. You will provide recommendations to leadership on balancing budgets and addressing public finance challenges, working across divisions to mitigate fiscal risks and support policy

Qualifications

• One year of permanent competitive service as a Budget Examiner, G-18, or eligibility for Section 52.6 transfer.
• Fluency in Excel formulas and functions and other Microsoft applications.
• Strong written, visual, and verbal communication skills.
• Work experience requiring quantitative analysis.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively with diverse stakeholders.
