Role Description

The Budget Director is a full-time, on-site role based in Dayton, OH, responsible for leading the development, implementation, and monitoring of the district’s annual budget. This position oversees budget planning cycles, prepares financial forecasts, and collaborates with district leadership, school administrators, and department heads to align resources with strategic priorities. Day-to-day responsibilities include analyzing revenue and expenditure trends, managing budget adjustments, preparing reports and presentations for senior leadership and the Board of Education, and ensuring compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and district policies. The Budget Director also develops and maintains budget processes and controls, supports grant and program budgeting, and provides guidance and training to staff on budgetary procedures.


Qualifications


  • Demonstrated expertise in Budget Management and Budget Process, including planning, implementation, monitoring, and reporting.

  • Strong Analytical Skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data, identify trends, and provide clear, actionable insights.

  • Solid foundation in Finance, including public sector accounting principles, forecasting, and cost analysis.

  • Knowledge of Public Administration practices, especially within K–12 education or governmental organizations.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Public Administration, Business, or a related field;

  • Experience in budget leadership or financial management in a school district, governmental agency, or similar public entity is highly beneficial.

  • Proficiency with financial and budgeting software, spreadsheets, and data analysis tools.

  • Effective communication, collaboration, and presentation skills, with the ability to work constructively with diverse stakeholders.

  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and commitment to ethical, transparent financial practices.
