Bowie State University is seeking a Budget Analyst to support the Budget Office with budget management, reporting, and training. The role reports to the Executive Director of Budget and focuses on maintaining accurate financial planning for University operations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree in accounting, finance, economics, business or related field.
• Three to five years or more budgeting, accounting and/or fiscal analysis experience.
• Experience with Workday Financials, HR, and Student Services or equivalent.
• Strong knowledge of basic accounting principles and spreadsheets.

Responsibilities

• Assist in managing day-to-day budget operations.
• Assist in development of the University’s operational budget.
• Prepare monthly budget reports and analytical data for management.
• Review departmental budget transactions and respond to inquiries.
• Conduct monthly budget meetings with budget managers.
• Maintain position control.
• Manage Workday inbox.
• Reconcile encumbrance discrepancies with Payroll.
• Process budget journals, transfers, and revisions.
• Conduct budget-training workshops.
• Manage budgets for special projects.
• Track USM legislative fiscal impact responses.

Education

Bachelor Degree in accounting, finance, economics, business, public administration or related field

Three to five years budgeting experience
