Job summary

City of North Miami Beach is seeking a Budget Analyst to support the development, monitoring, and administration of the city’s annual operating and capital budgets. The role conducts financial research, prepares reports, and maintains budget data in MUNIS while collaborating with departments to ensure policy compliance.

The ideal candidate has a bachelor’s degree in a related field and 2–3 years of governmental budgeting experience, with advanced Excel skills and proficiency in budget

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Public Administration, Accounting, Economics, or related field.
• Minimum 2–3 years of governmental or municipal budgeting experience.
• Experience with financial systems, preferably MUNIS.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, lookups, data modeling).

Responsibilities

• Assist with preparation and coordination of the City’s annual operating and capital budgets.
• Analyze budget requests, expenditures, and revenue forecasts to ensure accuracy and alignment with financial goals.
• Conduct ongoing financial monitoring and variance analysis, identifying trends and recommending corrective actions.
• Provide technical support to departments on budget guidelines, procedures, and financial reporting.
• Prepare budget reports, presentations, and data dashboards for leadership, departments, and City Commission.
• Maintain and update budget information in MUNIS financial system, ensuring integrity and accuracy of financial data.
• Assist with development of budget policies, internal controls, and process improvements.
• Participate in year-end closing, forecasting, and mid-year budget review processes.
• Conduct research and financial modeling to support policy and operational decision-making.
• Perform other duties as assigned
