Job summary

US Bureau of Prisons/Federal Prison System is seeking qualified corrections professionals to foster a humane and secure environment and ensure public safety by preparing individuals for successful reentry into our communities.

Basic qualifications include either a Master's degree or 2 years of graduate education, or a law degree if related, or at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level in the federal service.

Qualifications

• Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B or J.D., if related.
• Experience: At least one year of specialized experience equivalent in difficulty to the next lower grade level in federal service.
• Combination: Combination of Education and Experience may be credited; show actual time spent in activities.

Corrections professionals who foster a humane and secure environment and ensure public safety by preparing individuals for successful reentry into our communities.

To be considered for the position, applicants must meet the following basic qualification requirements:

Education

Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B or J.D., if related.

Such education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work.

OR

Experience:

You must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent in difficulty and complexity to the next lower grade level in federal service. To be creditable, this experience must have equipped the applicant with the particular qualifications to perform successfully the duties of the position, and must typically be in or related to the position to be filled.

Some examples of this qualifying experience are:

• Experience in compiling and analyzing comprehensive and detailed salary provisions, providing expertise and making recommendations on fiscal matters.
• Experience preparing fund distributions in accordance with budget committee decisions or the allocation of funds.
• Experience conducting training sessions and meetings for program managers and assistants to teach budget concepts and principles and interpret printouts and management reports.

Combination of Education and Experience:

Have a combination of education and experience. This experience must have equipped you with the qualifications to perform the major duties of this position as described above.

If applicable, credit will be given for paid and unpaid experience. To receive proper credit, you must show the actual time (such as the number of hours worked per week) spent in activities.
