Job summary

Brazos Towers at Bayou Manor in Houston, TX is seeking a Certified Medication Aide to join our dedicated care team. You will administer prescribed medications, monitor residents’ conditions, and support compassionate senior care in a faith-based not-for-profit community.

Qualified candidates hold a Texas CMA license and a Texas CNA license, have strong written and verbal communication, and can supervise teammates. CPR certification is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provides nursing care according to Physician’s orders and in conformance with established medication aide practice.
• Assists in examinations and/or treatment of residents and carries out orders.
• Monitors medication administration and notifies Charge Nurse of changes in resident condition.
• Administers prescribed medications and responds to changes in medical condition.
• Orient residents and staff to emergency procedures and respond to emergencies.
• Completes incident reports and provides follow-up as required.
• Ensures medication records are accurate and compliant with regulations and facility policies.
• Monitors resident environment for safety and sanitary standards.
• Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Essential Functions

• Provides nursing care according to Physician’s orders and in conformance with recognized medication aide practice, established standards, and administrative policies.
• Assists in examinations and/or treatment of residents and carries out orders.
• Has the skill to monitor medication administration and notify Charge Nurse in the event of a change in the resident’s condition.
• Accurately administers prescribed medications, responds to changes in medical condition, medications or other circumstances requiring special care needs and performs first aid as required.
• Orients residents and staff to emergency procedures and responds to all emergency situations.
• Completes and signs incident reports and provides follow-up as required.
• Assures that all resident medication records are accurate, complete and all mandatory forms are on file. Through familiarity and application of facility policies and procedures, assures that medication aide care is practiced in full accordance with regulatory requirements, facility quality standards, and resident rights.
• Monitors resident environment to ensure all safety and sanitary regulations and quality standards are met or exceeded.
• All other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Non-essential Functions

• Performs other related duties as assigned by authorized personnel or as may be required to meet emergency situations.
• May serve on committees, as requested.
• Consistently presents a professional appearance. Wears clean neat nursing uniform, clean shoes, stockings, name tag, no excessive jewelry, and short, clean fingernails.

Qualifications

• Certified Medication Aide with a current State of Texas license.
• Certified Nursing Assistant with a current State of Texas license.
• Must be able to read regulations and write clearly.
• Must be able to communicate in courteous, friendly manner.
• Ability to effectively manage and direct subordinates.
